Building your First VR Experience with Unity aims to provide those who are new to developing virtual reality apps with an introduction to Unity, and the goal is guide the user through crafting their first VR application in a straightforward manner, which will then serve as a skeleton onto which future lessons will build expertise.

Whether a customer is looking to use virtual reality for game development, architectural walkthroughs, product showcases, or even more custom applications, this course is intended to provide a strong foundation in 3D modeling, C# coding, interaction design, SDK use, and general best practices for VR that will help make VR experiences you develop exciting and memorable (and crucially, not nauseating.) The examples will focus on using Unity3D, the premier virtual reality creation tool which accounts for over 80% of all VR content released today.

It’s a good match for me, but some of the speed with which Alex is moving through certain dimensions with quick explanations may not be good for a beginner audience.

Quick introduction to basics of VR development. From 0 knowledge about Unity and development you rapidly end with enough knowledge to develop your own game. Very valuable course and well conducting training.

So far, after 5 lectures, all that has happened is the download and install of Unity and a very brief overview of the GUI. Almost all users are familiar with the steps required to download and install software, and including this process as part of the course is irrelevant and unnecessary. A single sentence such as If you don’t know how to download and install the Unity Editor on you computer, a quick search should provide you with detailed instructions on how to do so. would have replaced ALL of the content so far. Similarly, as this course is not a Unity for Beginners course, I do not think the Unity UI overview and basic scene setup is helpful. In fact, most of the first section of this course would be better suited for a beginners Unity course. The focus here should be more directly on VR development and the particulars associated with it, not on the basics of Unity itself.

eh interesting enough funny to watch. The way he does things I cannot agree with I recommend you learning else were and using this only if you need a small tidybit tip.

The first set of slides asked me to download it and I did it exactly as instructed. Right after words I noticed that the version I downloaded was brand new and the version being used is 5.6. Sometimes the way that it looks is different from how the instructor makes it look. I don’t know if this is just the beginning so it looks like that or this is the right version. Time will tell. I hope that it becomes more clear as we move forward.

Well I don’t know enough to say much so far, but I’m liking the whirlwind little tour of unity that I’m getting. Didn’t really get that from Unity’s long courses, but this so far seems like a succinct way to learn all about it with a VR focus, which is what I’m all about
