Have you ever wondered what happens under the hood when you type in a URL? Did you ever wonder how the internal parts of a computer work? This course will demystify the workings of information technology, making all of these things clear to students. If you are a beginner looking to obtain a tech job or internship or you are a college student looking to get a competitive edge, this course will give you a foundation of basic IT and Computer Engineering knowledge.
First, we will look at the basic architecture of a computer, in other words, the parts that make up a computer and what they do. Next, we will look into the concept of networking. Topics explored here will include the 7 layer network model, servers and clients, network topology, and the basic parts of a URL. You will get hands–on experience using proxy software to see requests and responses in real time. Finally, we will look at the basics of the terminal, or command line. We will explore topics like system file structure and hierarchy, basic terminal commands, and will do a hands–on demo of how to use the command line to perform basic operations such as navigating a file directory and performing operations on files.

Ok, so I just finished the course. I must admit FOR ME it was quite good. I learn all kinds of interesting stuff. Overall, yeah it was definitely awesome for $12 $15 australian. This particular course probably isn’t worth much more than that as it is quite small BUT..seriously I learnt a lot in a squashed amount of time. I completed it all PROPERLY in about 3 hrs or so. I learnt about packets, bites, bits, cmmd line, proxy analysis, servers and networks (very basics) and file hierarchy. It was EXCELLENT for a beginner class for anyone who wants a basic run down on common I.T stuff. I definitely recommend this for anyone new to I.T or for anyone who just wants to learn some cool stuff. was delivered very well 🙂 thanks!

I agree with a previous comment that stated that the lecture is almost verbatim with the slide text. A lot of the information could have been found on YouTube or Google. Additionally, the instructor read from the slides fairly quickly, which made it so I had to pause a lot if I wanted to capture notes. Overall, I’d slow down a bit, read from the slides less, and use more examples/theories. A nice course for beginners who aren’t sure what they should google, but I likely won’t watch this one again. Thank you for the education though! 🙂
