This course will take a good look at how to become a developer of Android Apps. It will provide you with much of the basics – some initial programming skills, plus some basic Java and Android App development using Android Studio. We also look into some of the database communications for our chosen database, Google s Json Firebase database, and the features that we are going to use along the way.
You will receive a tour of Android Studio and be shown ways in which to enrich your Android Development code and thus, your final Android App.
***** Terrific course with a huge amount covered. A perfect course for gaining basic knowledge about Android app development and design overall. The Firebase section is useful but would be nice if it went further – maybe there is a new course for them to make to do that !!
***** Very helpful. I shall try to use this info in my own apps, but should be good. I like the lecture format and the accompanying book is useful to work alongside the video. I would like some more on Firebase databases but I gather they are producing a course specifically on that. Will definitely buy that too.

Excellent course structure and content! However, appreciate the screen capture to zoom in for better view. Learnt a great deal from concept to actual design and implementation. The instructor has put in a lot of effort to explain every step and really helped in understanding the logic of the program. There were challenge exercises throughout each module which i really enjoyed solving. Highly recommend this course!

I find it a bit sloppy. I’ve already seen unnecessary lines of code, imprecise capitalization when concepts are first introduced (then obviously used correctly when it comes to practice) and challenges where what the student is expected to use hasn’t been mentioned at all previously and is impossible to guess without knowing (for example, if I remember correctly, when void first appears). The course does have its strong points but I find these inaccuracies enervating.

This is an excellent course for developers like me who want to get into Android development but also for complete beginners with no programming experience at all. Richard Goodman explains everything in detail and very clear. He challenges you to think for yourself and solve an upcoming task before he shows you how he would have done it. He does not tell you that his way is the only correct one but that there are several ways to solve a task. I like that he emphasises how important the planing and design phase is to develop a good quality product. I’m glad that I chose this course above other beginner’s courses.

Started with very little experience with coding. With steady pace I gained all the confidence to be able to code an application with android studio from this course. Richard was clear and structured. To get the most from this course I would recommend to try and complete all challenges set out by Richard. I felt like the publication process of an app was somewhat rushed but I imagine can be easily followed from the official android website.

The text is hard to read.

More suitiable for not experience Java programmers

This was a great course for people with some (not a ton of) programming experience in Java. It helped me easily learn how to apply Java to making Android apps. I learned a lot about Firebase and how to implement it (as well as other Google features) in my project. I do have one recommendation for people taking this course: Use the current versions of Firebase and AdMob. Your implementation will be simpler, and you will have fewer errors. The way you implement these in your projects has changed from the time the course was made. You may need to read some more documentation to get it right.

I’m optimistic at this point. Let’s see what happens.
