In this course we’ll learn the Python 3 programming language and the PHP programming language from an absolute Beginner level all the way to Advanced in no time at all!
This course is aimed at the absolute beginner, you don’t need any coding experience at all!
We’ll start out by setting downloading and installing Python and the Sublime Text Editor – both for free. This will give you all the tools you need to start writing and running Python code.
For PHP, we’ll use a free online development environment so that we can learn web development concepts.
Then, we’ll dive into very basic computer science concepts. Things like:
After that, we’ll move into more intermediate topics like:
Finally we’ll finish up with more advanced topics like:
We’ll learn all of those things for both Python and PHP. We’ll start with Python, and then move over to PHP in the second half of the course.
Python and PHP are two of the greatest programming languages to learn, and learning has never been this easy!
I’ll see you on the inside!

The Python section of the course was shorter than I expected and it left me wanting more. While it explained the logic behind Python, it was short on application. I reached out to John Elder for next steps, and he suggested a course on django, which I also purchased. I have not started it yet, but I’m sure John’s initial instruction will carry me a long way. The php section of the course made up for the shortcomings of the Python lessons. I tried learning php before, but it wasn’t clicking. John’s php course turned most of the lights on for me by building an actual webpage. Since I have worked with HTML/CSS quite a bit, it was very enlightening to see how php enhances and simplifies writing web pages. I can’t say enough about the instructor. John Elder was very friendly and approachable when I reached out to him via email, something I appreciate more than anything. His teaching style is more like having somebody in the room with you rather than on a video… somebody that occasionally trips over his own tongue or admits to not being real sure how or why something works. In other words, it’s like being taught by a real human being rather than through a scripted, edited and polished lecture.

Thank you, John! This was an amazing course. I’m just trying to learn as many new things as I can, and this was the perfect two in one course!

Yes, it seems a good experience. A little bit of Python learned with another learning website

Nice intro and overview. A bit rushed towards the end. Could definitely use some in depth expansion on certain important subject like ‘Classes’ and definitely some more examples. Good touch with the coupon code.

I purchased this as a brush up on PHP and an intro to Python. What I walked away with was mostly a waste of time and a disappointment in the lack of understanding of the teacher of what PHP can actually do and watching him fumble with the semi colon over and over. Heaven forbid this educator ever get to the point of using databases, communicating with other servers via curl, SSH, telnet or anything else from within PHP besides echoing the date or rand….

Just starting out, but seems easy to follow so far

Not a new programmer. So basic, yes. I will reevaluate after more chapters…
