Unreal Engine 4 : Complete Creation of Two Natural Scenes
$39.99 $17.99Track price
In this course I will give you all my techniques to allow you create your own scenes with advanced rendering.
Besides revealing my secrets for the Unreal Engine, 3. I will show you how to create your own models on 3ds Max, with the Megascans library textures.
As I want to show you the best, I cannot miss Speedtree in which we will create all our vegetation models as trees, ground vegetation or more generic vegetation like ferns or clovers.
Because materials hold the visual power of any rendering, we will create one by one all the materials needed for our scenes.
It means one shader for vegetation, landscape, decals or Megascans assets.
We will implement everything from material functions to Master Materials, ending with easy–to–configure Material Instances.
Once we have acquired the basics with our first scene, we will go further with a second one to show you that it is possible to create optimized models directly in Speedtree.
Staying in Speedtree, we will create our own textures to create unique designs.
Doing beautiful is very good but when it is optimized it is better, that’s why I will show you how to create combined textures called Atlas that will group several models on one.

So far so good. The content is straightforward yet explained very well. The sections are interchangeable (you can do the landscape first instead of all the foliage, etc.) The materials used are not free, but then again there’s plenty of textures online for free to use (although I heavily recommend Megascan just because of quality). Overall fantastic course.

You single handedly saved my ass on my final year of college, (i am gonna submit a killer project thanks to you) not that i am doing work for my college but for the amazing world of 3d art, this amount of information is very scarce in the free realm of internet. THANK YOU FROM MY HEART, i mean it.

This course is good. It is far from perfect though. Some critique points below. First, it is more of a workflow course, rather than a beginner’s course. It should be in the intermediate category at least. People who have no experience in 3D at all will be extremely confused. Secondly, another issue is the teacher’s English no offence, I’m not a native speaker myself, but often it is very hard to understand. Thirdly, SpeedTree parameters are explained poorly, e.g. explanation of parent curves and profile curves was just bad. I had to refer to the documentation and SpeedTree tutorials in order to understand. If you don’t understand what each parameter stands for, you can’t work on your own projects. Michael’s approach of I just give you my values, feel free to play with them does not really work, in my opinion. Aside from the above, the course is helpful for me. Many thanks to the author.

Great course so far! I don’t own/use SpeedTree but I’ve been able to replicate most of the techniques shown with Flora3D. I am curious to study the rest of this training, especially the videos about landscape materials. Now that Epic has acquired Quixel and all the Megascan library is free to use with Unreal this course is really a must have in my opinion!

These videos should re encoded in 1080p so that the material text appears clearer.
Jorge Reyes –
Really nice, a lot of materials and topics to learn, Im very pleased with the project results.
Bruce Jahn –
Been doing an outstanding job with explaining each step that he performs and is easy to follow along with.

This course is one of best I have ever taken, I ve learned a lot in this one. Not SpeedTree but also UE materials (partialy) and lot of optimalization tricks, how to sculpt Landscapes, create river/road, painting foliage and vertex color to blend textures, just awesome. I recommend this one a lot ;). Even tho Michael s english is not one of best it s still enough to actualy give you important informations and explain you how things works in fun and educative way.

The only bad thing I have to say about this course right now is the definition of the video. I read that it doesn’t depend on the teacher but on the platform, since you pay for these courses it should be normal to have a high definition for all the videos on the platform.

Very good and very informative!

You can’t follow along with this. You’re using paid subs on 3rd party programs and even with that you can’t even follow at the start with the free version. I mean no offense but add captions. :/

Good content

This course is amazing! Many thanks for sharing this valuable content. Online is possible to find several courses about UE4 but in most cases, the content is general and doesn’t teach you how to deal with complex topics such as landscape materials. Cheers!

This was all around a good course I did learn a lot. Though it was kind of all over the place at times. The instructor would some times would lose focus on things. It did teach me about a lot about setting up levels in UE4 tho so I would recommend it.

I bought this course mainly for the Speedtree element. Wow, I am so blown away with the whole course . . . it is absolutely amazing to learn some of the professional methods, tips and tricks for Unreal Engine that gives a project its mojo.

I really enjoyed the creation of my natural scenes based on the techniques and tricks suggested and taught by Michael. There are lot of things I learned throughout the course. I really recommend this to anyone who is interested to learn vegetation in the Unreal engine.
Luis Baez –
I like it, it’s easy to follow and very detailed on certain parts of the guide.

Good course. But speed tree is not a free software. It would have been the best course if we had got the speed tree license freely ?. We can use natural scene creation from section 17 on unreal engine. Some videos (around 6 to 7 videos) from starting are not in HD. But after these videos all videos are in HD.
