This course is a unique experience on Udemy.
There are loads of Kotlin resources online to choose from, but this is the only course that takes you from a complete beginner in software development, teaches you the fundamentals, advanced topics, and makes you an expert in this field.
In addition, you have loads of practice exercises, challenges and projects to work on. I didn’t just add a bunch of exercises at the end. Instead, each concept is put in code and practiced so that we make sure you apply and learn everything through action.
You get over 30 hours of on–demand videos, exercises and most importantly projects to apply the knowledge we talk about.
I’ve spent years building applications in Kotlin, and years again teaching people how to build code for themselves.
This is the most complete course I’ve ever done, and it’s all to help you on your journey to become an expert developer.
We will cover basic topics such as
language fundamentals
collections
flow control
loops
handling errors and exceptions
functions
packages
As well as advanced topics such as
Object Oriented Programming
Principles of development
Standard functions
Types of classes
Extensions
Generics
Coroutines
And we will put everything in practice through examples and projects.

This was an EXTREMELY basic course, and even then covered only the extreme basics of Kotlin. If you are a programmer with a few years in OO language this is not for you. The section on OO could have been for any OO language and entirely failed to cover some of the most important concepts such as Data Classed sealed Classes etc. In addition, apart from Lambdas (which only scraped the surface, and ignored some Kotlin esque syntax features), the entire paradigm of functional programing which makes much of Kotlin so desirable, was totally absent . The entire course could have been halved in its time, as much of the intro sections, exersises and tests simply repeated the same features again and again, sometimes with a disticnt lack of context in towwards the Kotlin language. If you are an aboslute beginner to programming, this could benefit you as an introduction to programing pronciples using Kotlin, but it is far from any comprehensive course on Kotlin at all as there is so much missing from this. Whilst the instructor is clear, I felt the need to play this at double speed as his slower tone, and extreme amount of material (most is repetitive) made this course drag on. Of course and as I am an experienced developer, I skipped large swathes of reptitious and basic material, finding no value in much of the material, this I wil admit to being one reason in my more critical review, but what I will say is beware the moniker of Masterclass This is far from any Masterclass, as I mentioned above missing is any mention of Data Classes and Sealed Classes, any in depth approach to the more Functional strengths of Kotlin, (aside from a very basic and lacklustre brushing of lambdas) , and no reference to Co routines, or threading, data access etc, some of which oare foundational aspects of Kotlin, and in my opinion, belong in any course labelled Masterclass If you seek a comprehensive course on Kotlin, in detail do not purchase this course, its misleading, and void of any great detailed Kotlin specific Information.

Great and complete course for begginers (Best Kotlin explanation in Udemy far away) . Clear in all aspects. He is still adding material to this course so it’s getting updated, more android apps will be a great value, also a debugging section.

I have purchased three courses from Catalin and all of them are very very informative and intuitive . However Android Jetpack masterclass and State of the art Android development in Kotlin are very concise and limited. The teacher should provide more lesson regarding push notification channelising and page listener api implementation etc, but so far I am happy with the courses . Thanks for the information he provides about these new tools and techniques.

I think is the most complete and informative course of kotlin, i have bought some courses of Catalin and is excellent teacher.

The presenter’s cadence and encouragement is just right for absorbing this new knowledge.

One of the better Udemy classes I have taken. Really helped to solidify some ideas and I love the repetition. I had every intention of giving this course 5 stars until I reached section 36. The last few sections of this course are a waste of time and felt like an after thought. You spend HOURS going over and over and over the basics, only to spend a moment learning about coroutines, probably one of the most important concepts to understand for a career in development. If your IDEA is up to date, lesson 36 won’t work, because the JavaFX library is no longer supported. Lesson 37 is not building an android project, it’s only installing Android Studio Lesson 38 is a glance at Coroutines. Don’t blink, you’ll miss it. Lesson 39 & 40, unless you’ve been building apps already, it’s hard to grasp and if you have… are you really taking this course??? Otherwise a great course and definitely worth it in the $10 to $15 range.

As I have experience in Kotlin, I thought I would learn not much from this course, but after going through all the contents, I found out that I filled a lot of gaps in my knowledge in Kotlin. Thank you very much!!!
Facundo Diaz –
Very good introduction to Kotlin.
Gunnar Hall –
I think it will!
Brad Cantrell –
Catalin is great, this is the only comprehensive Kotlin course on Udemy for learning the entire language at a deep level.
Sandeep Ghuge –
Yes, Its good
Hannan Ahmed –
Excellent and well detailed
David Gough –
Excellent. Lots of examples and covered everything I wanted to learn and more. The practical use of coroutines in the Android apps helped to solidify the theoretical learning in the lectures and also learn a bit about Retrofit and Glide in the process
Razvan Petrescu –
The best explanations and examples until now. Easy to understand for beginners!
Sam Gribble –
It s literally the beginning of the course, so this is an early comment. But the lecturer seems considerate and detailed. I like the start. Slides are clear and simply.

Overall the course is a good one. In some areas it got a bit overdrawn, yet i would term it as a perfect intro to kotlin to get the basics and start doing your own projects. 4.5 from me. all the best 🙂
Kurra sravankumar –
fantastic, It’s HIGHLY recommended to everyone.
Jaron Schulz –
easy to follow and well explained

I would say that it’s a good course to learn the basics of Kotlin if you are a newbie in software development. This course will teach you, in a very slow pace, how Kotlin works and its features (using IntelliJ). Don’t expect to learn app development from it.

I can’t get enough of Catalin’s Kotlin/Android classes. He’s so knowledgable and very good at explaining how everything works.
Jonathan Banner –
I have been through so many courses of Kotlin and they have been all so hard or the codes do not work! Having going through this course everything is described as professional and with the correct tone manner, easy to follow and not rushing through just to get a bob or two. From a no programmer to getting some experience from this course I am now understanding the power of Kotlin thanks to this course. Thank you so much and I do hope you will bring further tutorials so that I can follow through.

It’s an amazing course. Thanks!
