Build a Multiplayer Kart Racing Game From Scratch in Unity will use Unity 2019 and Photon networking tools to take you step–by–step through the setup and development of your own go–kart experience.
The kart racing genre goes back to the 1980s, though it was popularised by Super Mario Kart (1992) and Crash Team Racing (1999). The genre mixes racing and arcade type mechanics with well–known fictional characters and funky tracks littered with pickups and obstacles. Creating such a game combines the skills of networking, artificial intelligence, interface design, special effects and audio.
In this course, Penny reveals the most popular AI techniques used for creating NPC racing character behaviour in games using her internationally acclaimed teaching style and knowledge from over 25 years working with games, graphics and having written two award–winning books on games AI. Throughout, you will follow along with hands–on workshops designed to take you through every step of putting together your own kart racing game. You will first construct from scratch a single–player experience with intelligent NPC components and then add on networking functionality with a Photon master server to create a multiplayer game.

I love it! I have been wanting to learn these exact aspects of unity for awhile, I just did not know where to go or even what I wanted to know. Thank you

Just started so i might change this later on but so far this is not a good quality, she is not teaching anything. All she is doing is build a game and saying what she is doing. i.e. never explaining why she is doing anything or how it ties to the rest of the system just more of I am not adding [object], i am not linking [object]. For example at 1 point all she says is that she will duplicate something, never explain what shortcuts she uses and then boom, there is a second wheel on the screen. All im saying is that if you take this course be prepared to pause a lot to try and figure out what she just did.

Excellent course. I want to see a new section that she would explain how to setup split screen local multiplayer and support split screen multiplayer online in this course. Another thing that I like to see is how to add drifting system in the current car mechanic like a NeedForSpeed. What I mentioned earlier if the teacher can add these chapters to the course can help all the students that we acquire this course to solve many concerns.

I was looking to build my own vehicle driving mechanics for a game and this course just taught me how to do it from scratch. As always, Dr De Byl’s classes are world class.
Wes Hodges –
Very detailed and structured. Enjoying the course.

Excellent course for what I was able to complete. When purchased the Requirements had no mention of must use in Unity 2019 only. I’ve been following all Penny’s courses in 2018, without any problems. I purchased this course and 24% in it crashed and 2 days work was lost. Penny was kind enough to give me a voucher for another one of her courses. On a personal note: I’ve been a student of hers for almost 2 years, and I think she’s an awesome instructor, and enjoyed all of her courses greatly. I very rarely asked for help in any of them. However, when I did ask for help, I was hit with sarcasm from Penny’s assistant Adrian. I am a student and I needed help. At any rate I find it difficult to make any more future purchases.

This moves along at a nice pace. It is clear what is happening. So far after this first video I’ve already learned a lot about the unity engine in a way that wasn’t confusing, or made me feel like I was lacking some background information. I’m very glad I started this course already.

my main purpose of purchasing this course was to gain better understanding on Photon and Unity relationship. however this course definitely includes more than that. while watching this course, you will have plenty of project ideas from the scripts you are writing with Penny. I have purchased couple of other unity courses, and i feel like this is more intermediate course level rather than beginner course.

This is not a beginner course. In other courses, the instructor usually takes the time to note the Resources folder. They will then go into instruction on downloading, as well as how to import the object then getting it setup along with the scene. This instruction starts in the tail end of that with the plane already set, the tire already imported, and discussion on forces. Luckily, I’ve had prior experience in Unity courses so I was able to derive the necessary steps for adding materials to the mess renderer as well as the plane of existence for the tire.

Straight forward to the point and love how videos are made to keep your interest. Made me feel like a pro using unity in no time.
