Great course! I had chosen GeneratePress after looking at numerous themes, How happy I was to find a detailed, comprehenseive course on Udemy instead random videos elsewhere. I watched all the way through and will start again from the beginning while actually building my site.

Im more interested in the Premium Features that are coming up in the next section

I purchased the premium version. I took this course to learn and it did a good job. I do have a problem with the theme not the course. The site library has a good number of selections. Turns out that the instructor chose the very same site theme that i was eyeing myself. Which is why I got the premium version. Problem with the theme (not the course0 is that when you click to install it comes up with a reminder that this will change your website PERMANENTLY. It states it can only be undone but not easily. I am testing on a local host and at this point that is no big deal since my site is not my live site that uses a studio press theme. I am used to CONSTANTLY changing themes to see what looks best. I used to use a program called ARTISTEER. With it you can design a site and doing so is very easy. It constantly presents choices. But the company abandoned the project. GeneratePress is hailed to work with the major page builders. HERE IS THE PROBLEM: Elementor says his can impliment anything you can imagine or words to that effect. The problem is most of us students CANNOT IMAGINE what a site should look like. Thus great implementation is not really helpful as we cannot IMAGINE what the finished product is. Thus the site library of GENERATE PRESS and ELEMENTOR were a draw but the problem is that not being a great coder with GENERATEPRESS using their skins from the theme library might make changing near impossible. I am currently looking at themes from ThemeZee for my magazine type blogs. They can be changed and latter could use Elementor when I am more astute. Within themezee i can switch themes with little harm. Again this is NOT the fault of the course. He does a great job presenting the material.

A great introduction to Generate Press

Thanks, Tom, for an enjoyable and helpful overview of GeneratePress. Your enthusiasm is contagious. This course is for beginners, but it does assume a little CSS and PHP knowledge. (The PHP example was totally over my head, but did not affect my enjoyment of the course.) I bought this course mostly in hopes of 1) getting a good overview of the theme’s capabilities and 2) understanding Elements (especially headers and hooks). Very satisfied with goal #1. Mostly satisfied with #2. I would have liked more examples of Elements, and an explanation of how to style and use them. But at least students were directed where to find more documentation about hooks and other features of this amazing theme, so that’s helpful. I do feel like I grasp the topic of hooks a bit better than before. Hopefully, the instructor will come back sometime and add the promised list of sites he’s built with this theme so students can get even more inspiration with concrete examples.
