Hi there!
This course is all about developing a crafting game, in GameMaker. We’ll learn to code with GameMaker Language and develop our game from the ground up!
About the Instructor
Hi, I’m Gurpreet S. Matharoo! I’ve been teaching game development for years, and making games for longer. I’ve taught over 5 courses on Udemy, published numerous tutorial posts on my blog, and regularly create free tutorials on my YouTube channel, GameMakerStation. I also work at YoYo Games as the Technical Writer for GameMaker.

Pretty thorough on explaining what all the code does without going too in depth for a beginner course.
Luca Wetterauer –
Very Good and easy to understand

Thanks for your serious job !

I learned so much new Things about GML. Very good Explanations and easy to understand. I really can recommend this awesome Course for Beginners and Advanced People in GameMaker Studio 2. I paid 10 and it was absolutely worth it. By the way Greetings from Germany :D.

The instructor does an excellent job working step by step through the code.
Alex Morales –
So far it is good , but expected more lectures and some advance videos. I highly recommend if you are new to Gamemaker Studios 2 or you want to learn how to make a builder game.

The edition quality is AMAZING. The concepts are easy to understand because of all the slow, yet specific explanations. The course is as long as it has to be and its fun. Taking the time to explain each argument and parameter is really important and professional. I also like how a problem appears (sometimes more evident than not) and it is solved right away with a reasonable solution. If this course could improve I’d just suggest to add small challenges. I hope more courses could be like this

If you are a little bit more advanced, the first few lectures are gonna be a bit boring. But im not even 20 Lectures in, and i already learned a lot! I never really understood the depth ordering thing and cameras, but now i really understand it. I did my collisions really complicated but now i found out that there is a way better and easier way to do them! Would recommend!

I learned quite a lot from this course! Movement! Arrays! Shaders! Many things I was trying to do on my own but not efficiently. This course really showed me how simple GM2 can be used once you know how to use it! This was a great learning experience! Thanks!

Excellent introduction to game maker. The instructor clearly explains each piece of code as it s implemented; obviously it ll make much more sense if you can understand any other coding language, but don t let that put you off if you don t. The game, once completed, has plenty of room for expansion and customisation.

I really loved the course, it is incredible polished and well explained. I would recommend a bit of programming knowledge though, since not everything is easy to understand. For me it was no problem. Thank you for this course, I really think I evolved as a game programmer with this one!

I’m on the fence with this one. Although the results are good, the journey to reach them seems all too rushed, leaving the experience a bit unpleasant. For being a beginner’s course, more time needs to be taken to explain the concepts of why particular code is being used, and what effect it is having on its object. Blocks of code being pasted and quickly explained is very disengaging for the student and just leaves a lot of unanswered questions, or feelings of I got to the end result, but I don’t understand how. Typing out each line of code live would be more engaging for the students, especially if they are being explained along the way. I’ve been using Game Maker a while so I’m aware of GML, but to label this is a beginner’s course is quite wrong in my opinion. Maybe intermediate would be more suited. I’ll continue to go through the course until the end but not expecting it to get much better in terms of delivery. Remember…Learning isn’t measured during a lesson… It’s what you can remember after the lesson has ended.

very thorough and clear

Great course :). Learned a lot from it, some good practises included. Would highly recommend.

I took this class after seeing that the tutor was updating the course with new content. I enjoyed this class. The tutor’s way of coding mechanics and features feels very optimized / good practice, and he responds to questions quickly and concisely. I wish the course was a bit longer, as it doesn’t delve into a lot of what would be needed for a full fleshed game (setting up a title screen, sounds, the crafting mode is a bit barebones, and the NPC AI is very minimal), but that’s ok. The crafting mechanics and method of setting up menu is very interesting and definitely something I will keep in mind.

The lecturer presents big important concepts in easily digestible bite sized pieces for you to understand quickly. YOU WANT THIS COURSE.
Robert Razzell –
Wonderful teacher, very easy to learn.
Valorant Key –
only copy and paste.
Nate Lane –
Great course, code well explained and the techniques used all seem to apply for many instances of where one would use GMS2!
Enrico Bertelli –
Man, you are an absolute legend. A welcome change to those know it all s in other courses who couldn’t teach to save their own lives. I’ve just seen the first few lectures and it’s already awesome keep up the good work man, much appreciated.
Logan Donham –
Great so far. To the point and I feel like I’ve already learned quite a bit in 20 minutes time.
Tobias Linden –
Clear, to the point, no nonsense and well spoken!
Tony Smith –
everything is explained very clearly and quickly. Really good stuff!
