Summary:
Step by step Optimization principles
We learn the modelling language FICO Xpress, which is an alternative to Pyomo, GAMS.
We learn the principles of optimization in a structured manner.
Step– by – step, no prerequisites.
Who I am:
I am a Research Fellow, leading the Research in industry projects in Mathematical Optimization & Data Science applied to Energy Investments, at Imperial College London.
I have a PhD in Analytics and Mathematical Optimization, applied to Energy Investments, from Imperial College London.
The old energy landscape is steadily being replaced by a new energy landscape that produces and consumes Big Data. To understand the new energy landscape we therefore need to adapt and make use of state–of–the–art Big Data algorithms and methods based on the latest advances on Data Science & Optimization.
I offer specialized education and consultancy on Data Science, Optimization, Finance, all focused on energy investments.
Make sure you sign up to be informed about my regular free webinars, participate in quizzes, and to download publications and extra material.
Important:
No pre–requisites are needed: You do not have to know Programming (eg Python or MATLAB or C ++) at ALL because we go through all the commands needed , in great detail and with many examples.

Paul Fowler, CFA –
Very helpful for quantitative finance and portfolio development. Sets the foundation.
Bjorn Christian –
Great learning experience. I am using it for CFA level three to develop models for financial derivatives. 5 stars from me !

As a research scientist in industry, I found mathematical optimization of real life problems particularly tough to do using MATLAB or other open source software. This course teaches a software that makes things easy. This software became free very recently so thus far it was very rarely used (due to its high price). So this course comes handy for all those who want to make optimization models (useful in industry & finance) easily & reliably without many errors appearing all the time. Thanks.

This is truly a very good course!! I strongly recommend it to all !!
Cammie D –
Wow! What a course! A difficult subject looks easy now.
Steve Bib –
I really liked it. As a novice it helped me get a grasp on building a mathematical model. I would really appreciate more courses!
T. C. –
very helpful!
James Elai –
Dr. Giannelos is a top class expert in the field of optimisation. Very well known in the Electronic and Electrical Engineering field. The course is great! Thorough yet simple walk throughs and explanations. Definitely recommend!

It was a great Course in optimization. Easy to understand and step by step.
Alessio Jojo –
Great fabulous. Very interesting and helpful for professionals
Jay Sanders –
Very specialized software for data scientists who want to quickly design optimization models, that would otherwise require huge amount of effort.

This course is ok for beginners but actually you need to have some small background in optimization. It teaches you the very expensive although recently it became free software Xpress. From my experience (optimization @ Google and Amazon) Xpress has one big advantage : simplicity and stability. But it is not very well known because so far it was at a very high price tag. The instructor is very well known & much appreciated in the industry. Also this course is great for tech enterpreneurs as it has strong interface for use with c++ and MATLAB.

I am enjoying new learning.

I have quite a 20 year experience in machine learning, data science , optimization, etc. and have worked with all software including Gurobi, Gams, and other. In my opinion this one has significant advantages over the others. Used GAMS for my PhD at Stanford, and been using a range of other software at MIT. I liked this course & recommending it to all friends and colleagues. Great teaching style.

Great course for those who aspire to find a career in finance/ banking. Looks good on our resume. Got my job : ) Thank you!
Stanford eng –
Very good course for all of us who do a PhD at Stanford Engineering ! Great teaching style because the software is not easy to learn on your own . Thank you! Strongly recommended!
IBMer –
Dr. Giannelos has a very strong reputation with IBM, where i have been working and I find his teaching style superb. I have given 5 stars for this course and looking forward for the next one.
Researcher Tsinghua Uni –
Very pleased with this course, and very high teaching quality. Optimization is a difficult mathematical subject and this software is difficult to learn, but these videos are very helpful.
Mairy –
Very helpful for my PHD and for my colleagues! Thank you! ++recommended!
George J. –
Thank you Doctor for providing such a very thorough & comprehensive course! Your teaching style is my favourite! Anyone considering a PhD or Post doctoral position, has to get this course! George, from London School of Economics.
Widor msc –
Optimization in FICO is not easy , and the software does not have the best help in my opinion. So this course really filled the gaps in my mind. Good for phd.
Stanf fescu –
Phd Engineeing from uc berkeley ! Your course has been a big help.
David Lawson –
Great course! Highly recommended.

No content on reduced costs. Nor on formulations. Nor on other sensitivity analysis. But given the scope the course was made interesting.
