The .NET framework is getting better and better and more important in the web development world nowadays.

Almost every request I get for new web development projects is asking for knowledge in .NET, including Web API and Entity Framework Core.

So, knowing the fundamentals of back end web development with .NET can be highly beneficial to your career. And that’s where this course comes in.

In a short period of time, you will learn how to set up a Web API, make restful calls to this Web API and also save data persistently with Entity Framework Core, Code–First Migration, a SQL Server & SQLite database, and all three types of relationships in this database.

We will get right to the point, you will see every single step of writing the necessary code and by the end of this course, you will have what it takes to say ’yes’ to all the .NET project requests from any recruiter.

The only tool you need in the beginning is Visual Studio Code which is available for free.

We will use Visual Studio Code for our implementations and make calls to the Web API with the help of Swagger UI – an interface that lets you consume the API out–of–the–box, thanks to the latest version of the .NET framework.

Instructor Details

Writing code is what drives me. Creating software out of nothing is a skill I truly am passionate about and I want to share this astonishing feeling of making stuff with you. I started to learn several programming languages as a teenager and always wanted to create software ever since I first played a game on a Commodore 64. During my bachelor and master studies, I joined various companies, made desktop and web applications as well as video games professionally and was always anxious to improve my craft, which I have been doing for more than 15 years now. For me, the most important part of writing and teaching code is to have fun. If certain ways work for you and the results are maintainable and you have fun with your results, you're doing it the right way. I don't care if you always use your keyboard or switch to the mouse from time to time, so-called best practices are not always best or practical, I want to teach you to develop software in a way it works in the industry, a way it works for you and in a way that makes you happy.

Excellent course. Very clear and well explained. Examples are good and easy to follow. Really good course for getting into API development with .net core 3.1. I’ve previously been working in Node and .net 4.8 so this course was just what i needed.

Text in 720p video is not crisp on Udemy. Whereas text in YouTube video is more crisp.

The author knows a lot about the subject. The explanations are clear and easy to follow. I like the idea that we start with a single project and we introduce more and more concept using the same base idea. I would recommend this course to other collogues.

I own 169 Udemy courses, but I just can’t get behind this one. Udemy won’t let me refund it because I’ve watched 33% of it, even though they claim to have a 30 day return policy and I only bought it 3 days ago. It’s important to know that this is not an 11 hour course. It’s two 5 hour courses, where the second is the exact same course, on an older version of .NET core. Patrick spends SOOO much time typing, and narrating what he’s typing. In many cases he doesn’t bother explaining what he typed, or why. He’s so slow. He just tells you to type stuff and moves on, especially during the authentication part. MOST of the course is him refactoring over and over. When you look back and think about what you’ve covered, it’s barely anything. It’s amazing how much time was spent, not really accomplishing much. I desperately want a refund, but Udemy’s 30 day policy is a scam. How can we know if we don’t like the course, until we watch some of it. Not even half, they cut you off somewhere between 25% and 33%. Do not take this course. For asp.net, either go with 1 month of Pluralsight and take Scott Allen’s courses, or if you are determined to use Udemy, go with Neil Cumming’s course which also covers React, but you can just skip those parts.
