What are we building?
In this course, you will learn how to build an MVP version of Instagram with strictly Swift UI using the MVVM architecture. This is the only course on the market that builds a fully functioning app as complex as Instagram using nothing but SwiftUI. We will be building this completely from scratch, starting with the User Interface skeleton, and working our way up to integrating our API with Firestore and data models. This course WILL take your development skills to the next level, using the latest and greatest techniques in modern programming.
We will be building all the core components of a social network. This includes following users, uploading/liking posts, a notification system, creating a user profile, and registering users. Throughout the process, you will develop high level programming, app design and app development skills. We will be building this without the use of storyboards, fully programmatically.
Prior Experience?
Some programming and basic Xcode experience is preferred. The course will move a little fast if you’re a complete beginner, but you will pick things up along the way.
Why take this course?
Learning advanced development skills should be taught using real world examples. This course will teach you how to build a fully functional social network, from complete scratch. You will be learning advanced front and backend development skills, from a real life professional developer. You will learn how to code like a pro, and everything will be explained in detail along the way. This will teach you to build production ready applications, that are easily scalable and maintainable. This also makes for a great project to add to your portfolio, which you can use to show off to potential employers if you’re trying to become a pro.

Instructor is really good! and the course is even better and well formatted. My only issue is that the course feel abit rushed and more depth couldve been added.

I knocked a star off from five down to four stars. Here s Why: What’s good about it? 1) The app clone itself is a good idea, everyone will know Instagram and it has good features that are fairly omnipresent in many apps these days. 2) Instructor doesn t beef up lessons with loads of repetition and bloat for the sake of having a long running course. What could be better? / Why I knocked a star off: 1. Biggest gripe. 3/4 of the way through Stephan has purchased a new widescreen monitor. Suddenly you can’t see the code / text on the screen even in full screen mode on a 15 MBP. The widescreen format does not work well for the Udemy video player and he should have used a far larger font size. It looks like he hasn t checked the format after buying a new monitor and this is detrimental to the overall quality of the course. 2. The repeated reminder of the monetisation / paid source code was perhaps a little too regular to avoid registering a slight annoyance, but hey, it IS the guys business so no biggie I suppose. 3. A couple of throwaway features (NavLink to user name) being behind the paywall felt a little bit cheap to be honest. 4. There’s a fair bit of belching and the odd f bomb in the lectures. I’m sure some folk would gripe at that so while it’s not problematic for me, it could easily have been avoided and kept a better professional edge. 5. Sometimes the explanations felt a bit convoluted or not fully thought out. 6. Note the app you will build is not responsive to screen orientation. That feels a little bit amateur these days as you d expect layouts to handle the landscape format. 7. Dark mode, it s on of the big UI topics these days and isn t featured. Summary: Overall there s nothing to warn anyone away from buying this course, just a few niggles that stop it from being in the elite of Udemy courses/tutors for comprehensive coverage such as Stephen Grider or Max Shwartzmueller who are taking you to the stage of production ready apps without additional monetisation via courses outside of Udemy. I have bought another course from Stephan. The only deal breaker would be the widescreen monitor and code/explorer font sizes in future courses.

Good Course! Building a Social Media app requires a Lot of details. There are a few things he doesn’t fully flesh out but gives you enough info to do it all yourself!!
