Course is out of date and code examples do not work

The instructor says we don’t need to know Python, but I’m lucky I do because I would have no idea what he was doing in the initial example. With just 1 year of Python experience, I can barely follow what he’s doing. Not a great way to start people out. Having made my way through the course I saw a few instances (like JDBC) where he refers to things without explanation, as if you should know what they are, then explains them later. *He needs to think through his material better and identify the fundamentals that are needed for that material.* Also, I didn’t find the source code for a lot of the Spark SQL stuff. There were some things in Spark SQL CSV with Python.py, but then it just sort of left off after covering the basics.

Pros This Course is good for starters who has some prior knowledge of data analysis and python. Its short, containing short videos. Cons Too short course, so it just provides introduction, but fails to apply for real world problems This course is not at all updated. The commands used in command line are deprecated for spark2.2+. So I had to waste a lot of time figuring out the alternatives. Python 2.7 is used which is deprecated nowdays, but it doesn’t create any issues. Doubt clearing is not done timely. Till now, my questions are left unanswered. Since I had some prior knowledge, so I was able to find those answers. Course is not very precise. Especially, starting with Apache Spark on server, lacks ample explanation, and is very difficult to understand the errors which occurs on running the commands shown in video. Advice Please update this course. Atleast, add some text files showing alternatives approaches if one is using spark2.2+. Some commands are deprecated. Please explain the starting Apache Spark on servers and aws in detail using the updated resources. Overall Although the course gave an insight as how to start with Apache Spark on python, but still it doesn’t go very deep to show the actual real world application.

Great Course as far as content and presentation! The only suggestion is to refresh the course with the references to the latest and greatest (versions) of Anaconda, Spark, and Python some technical details did change and it took me some time to adjust my environment.
Manish Gupta –
Not well explained. We understand R, Python, and SQL but the interaction between Spark and Python explained here was done without explaining which part of a statement in Python was from Spark.
Ramakrishna Sridhara –
Excellent examples

This course most definitely met my expectations. The config was a little challenging for Windows 10 and should be updated for the latest versions of Spark and Python.
Aparna Nallamolu –
