In general the course is good and it s worth going through. The tutor is clear, knowledgeable and his pacing is adequate. Unlike other tutors, Matt shows many aspects of S3 and other services (e.g. Route 53) which you have to pay for, even on aws free tier. This includes use of Glacer, expedited recovery, domain registrations, CloudTrail (not sure if this is free or not, but it s still good to see it). The use of CLI is also valuable. However, the course already shows signs of being a little outdated. For instance, it does not cover Deep Archive storage class nor S3 Batch Operations. Other potential criticism is that some aspects of S3 are covered too briefly in my opinion. For example, in lifetime cycles section there is no info on its waterfall pattern (can’t transition between storage classes at will). Other example that I think would be good to have extended upon are different scenarios of accessing buckets and objects and how to setup and manage permissions for that. For instance, accessing objects belonging to account A located in a bucket owned by account B. In other words, it would be good to learn about cross–account access to buckets and objects. A recommendation for the course update, apart from covering Deep Archive and S3 Batch Operations, would be demonstration on how to use CloundFormation for creation of buckets and bucket policies.

Good course. All the imprtant topics covered. Screens could be a big sharper since sometimes it’s difficult to read the screens.
