Take your first steps to becoming a 3D character artist – learn everything from modelling to painting to animating the character. The course is the sequel to the highly popular Blender Character Creator course, enjoyed by 10s of thousands of students.
This course has been created using Blender 2.83 and is compatible with newer versions of Blender.
Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, the experienced instructors will take you through every step of the process, ensuring that you aren’t just copy and pasting what you see, but learning the tools and developing your own creative process as you go.
For each concept taught this course includes a relevant challenge for you to implement yourself. You can follow along with the Ogre model used in the course, or create your own character using reference material or your own sketches.
The course will show you how to create a highly detailed, great looking character for your portfolio as well as turning that same character into an asset ready to be implemented into a video game engine.
The entire course is project–based, so you will apply your new skills immediately to real 3D models. All the project files will be included, as well as additional references and resources – you’ll never get stuck. There are talking–head videos, powerful diagrams, quality screencasts and more.

Michael Starke –
great way of learning blender even doe im working with blender v2.81.16
Alexander Walmsley –
Another excellent course from Gamedev.tv doesn’t just tell you which buttons to press, but gives a good, fairly deep understanding of rigging and animation principles.
Jeff Clark –
Clear and simple. Of course, we are at the very basics so far.
Zindel –
The course has not aged well I have seen some of the reviews and the course is Blender 2.79 (as advertised) while Blender is now on 2.81a. 25 hours of video is a little more than three and half 8 hour work week. To take that and then have to learn a new skill (using a modern version of blender) seems to be a lot to ask. If the course is updated I will re access my opinion and write a new review.
Raymond –
The material is easy to follow.
Petrus Jacobus Pretorius –
Good introductory Blender animation course. Very basic and covers much of the same content as blender complete’s introductory lectures. I enjoyed the section on animation principles the most. Unfortunately, does not cover NLA editor or tracking techniques. Hoping Michael and team will make something more advanced in the future that focuses purely on rigging and animation (maybe as a supplement/add on to the blender complete course).

While the instructor is clear and the classes are well planned, the course has not been updated to be used with Blender 2.8. If you have no issue with googling for how to apply the commands in the newest version of the program, or use an older version, then you’ll be fine. I would sugest buying their other course Complete blender for beginners over this one, since it touches upon many of the essentials for character modeling in blender 2.8 in more advanced units.

I’ve been trying to learn how to sculpt for a long time. This is the first course that has explained the process to my liking. I’ve managed to create my very first character without much trouble. I totally recommend this course for anyone that is looking to utilise Blenders amazing sculpt tools. Well done!

The explanations are clear and I appreciate that you insist on a try in the course because it helps to remember how to do the things

I made not so far in the past the 1st course about the Basics of the Blender and now then i understand easily everything but if i don’t learn the basics this can be rly hard cause they show it really fast every step. But this is very good and funny with the challenge options and i think it was very intensive so it good again 🙂 .
Michael Griffis –

Learned quite a bit about the basics from baking maps to UVs all the way to texturing and rigging. The basic workflow for this style of character creation was explained clearly, so it was easy to follow and adapt to your own model. It also gave me a lot more confidence to actually start trying out and creating my very own rigged characters. Overall I was extremely happy about the course, and definitely recommend it to others interested in it as well.
Adam Mikulis –
This has been the best overall Blender course I have taken so far. It shows a complete workflow for a character which has given me plenty of tips for other types of asset creation. I would recommend it for anyone beginner/intermediate who wants a more holistic approach to modeling.
Michael Beadle –
Fantastic course. Well paced and the choice of wording while demonstrating is very easily to follow and considerate.
Kobus Vermeulen –
I enjoyed the course up to the section about retopology. I feel like it was still informative but not as good as the rest of the course. I found it frustrating and as a beginner felt a bit lost and demotivated. I also didn’t always understand exactly what I was trying to achieve and why. I’m trying to stick through to the end of the course because my reason for taking it was to learn how to rig and animate a character for use in Unreal Engine. That said, I’m not sure how my model will turn out, because I’m not sure what I may be doing or not doing now that could mess things up later.

These guys always exceed my expectations with their Udemy courses.

I’m at Section 4 Finish. So so far in my opinion, this course is really worth the money . The instructor i think his name is Grant Abbitt) is obviously a skilled professional… What i like the most, he is still repeating what he is doing calmly and also note every possible mistakes that we can do. also he has nice voice and i can listen and and focus 😀 i can imagine how annoying was to record this course in this detail… Now i know its still a Hand holding stuff, but honestly it’s working for me, i feel safe, and kinda of good .. i think im making progress and so i want to thanks for the instructor to being calm and repeating everything that’s important, i really appreciate it!! (Sorry for my bad english)

I’ve been playing with Blender for a while, and 10 minutes into this class learned some basics that I sure would have loved to know from the start
Jimmy Grosch –
I like the course but it is a little bit to slow for me.
Ahmed Khattab –
