Cryptocurrencies are all the rage right now. Wouldn’t it be cool to build a website that shows Crypto news automatically? That’s what we’ll learn in this course!
We’ll build a website using Ruby on Rails and Bootstrap that connects to a free third party crypto API.
We’ll be able to pull news stories, crypto price data, and all kinds of cool stuff, and output it onto the screen of our website automatically.
Who Should Take This Course?
This course is aimed at the beginner. You don’t need to know Ruby, or the Rails framework, or Bootstrap…or anything at all…to take this course. I’ll walk you through it all; step by step. If you already know the basics of any of those things, you’ll be fine too. You’ll still learn some cool things along the way!
What Tools Do You Need To Take This Course?
You don’t need any special tools to take this course. We’ll be using a free online development environment pre–loaded with Ruby on Rails. Or you can feel free to download rails directly to your computer (if you know how) and follow along that way.
What if you don’t like the course?
I offer an unconditional, 30–day Money back Guarantee. If you aren’t happy for any reason, you get your money back! No hoops to jump through at all.

Enjoyed the course! I’ve been looking into cryptocurrency over the last few months and now with John’s course I get to see the cyrpto news and price information in my own software. John is a great teacher. I have most all of his courses.

This is a good course for: review or revision of what you already know (or watched before) if you already studied Ruby/Ruby on Rails; introduction or overview of the Rails if you are a beginner; This is not a good course for : beginners to learn Ruby or Ruby on Rails as there is not sufficient explanation ; those familiar with Rails as the stuff is pretty basic /superficial; Overall, for me being not a beginner, this material was still a worthwhile course and the time well spent. I have not learnt much from it but it was still useful as a revision. You will get some rewards at the end of the course that some may find useful.

Great course and great instructor. Doesn’t make you feel like you have to have a CS degree or have to already be a programmer to take the class. Good class pace. All lines of code are appropriately explained. So there is more explanation to complex things such as the controllers and less explanation on simpler things such as html code. I have some rails experience so this was a great class to learn API calls and some form validation. Thanks for the great class!

I enjoyed this course. Its straight to the point and teaches you how to grab info from a public api, parse it and put it onto a page in less than 2 hrs.

I’m only 50% through the course and we’ve already created the app structure, styled with Bootstrap and pulled in data of crypto news. I would have paid for just that. Next we’re going to pull in price data and add search functionality. I used to look at short courses and think how can you do anything in that time. Easy, John keeps all the videos short and sweet, everything is lean and to the point. The course uses cloud 9 ide which runs rails 4.2. It should run if you’re using Rails 5.x on a Mac. I had a bit of trouble with the api with my Rails 5 install on Windows 10 something to do with ssl certificates but I had a c9 account which I ended up using just to do the course.

I really enjoyed this course. I will be purchasing more courses from this instructor (John Elder). He’s straight to the point and we get the information/knowledge very quickly. He seems to actually care about his students’ success which is a big plus for me. I’m excited to see what he has us learning next!

It was fun and interesting.

Great course! Learned a lot about crypto and building web applications with RoR. However I felt dissapointed on the fact that Heroku web app was installed in one of the first videos but was never used.I really wanted to launch the website on this occassion but well I’ll guess I’ll have to figure it out on my own.

Nice, fairly easy, straight forward…run into a few errors but nothing that wasn’t explained in the Q&A, I expected a load of issues due to the vid no being recent but really I have learned a bunch about something that I enjoy learning about. Thanks Maestro.

You need to understand MVC model for rails and then this course will be added bonus.
