Are you ready to become an RPG Game Maker!
This comprehensive course will be teach you how to use the power of RPG Maker to create your very own games, including characters, maps, cutscenes, and new game mechanics that are unique and different thanks to the power of JavaScript plugins.
Once you learn how to publish to Windows, Mac, iOS and Android; you will be able to prove your skills to others as an Indie game developer. Finishing a full game is hard, specially using more complex tools like Unity or Unreal, but with RPG Maker and this course you will definitely be able to complete your own game and show it off, even sell it if that is what you want.
RPG Maker is simple to use, but since it uses JavaScript at its core, you can create completely new mechanics like puzzles and quests. Don’t worry, I will guide you on how to achieve this. In addition to this, learning how to publish JavaScript based games as multi–platform apps is a highly in demand skill that will make you a more valuable professional, not just in the game industry but in the web and app development industry too.
This course uses the newest version of RPG Maker, which is RPG Maker MZ released on mid 2020, but I consider that users of the previous version, RPG Maker MV, will also benefit from this course since they are very similar, and because this course is yours too keep, once you are ready to upgrade you will have the latest info.

The lessons are fun and engaging. The pacing is good even if you already have some experience with RPG Maker because it encourages you to develop a process.

Before reading this review, keep in mind that I have only completed about a quarter of the course as of this point, so some criticism may be invalid. First, lets start off with some pros. This course is designed for people of all skill levels with RPG Maker MZ, so whether you’re a novice at the software or an adept, you can still learn something. The things you learn in this course can also mostly be applied to MV, so if you have RPG Maker MV but haven’t been able to buy MZ this course is still valid. Aside from designing the game itself, this course also offers some insight into structuring a story for your game. Although this course won’t make you a master storyteller like some other courses here at Udemy, I think it’s a welcome bonus to the main course. There really isn’t that much to talk about as far as negatives. I’d say my main issue with the course is that sometimes the instructor has a stutter, so every once in a while he says something you might not understand if you were multitasking or otherwise dozing off a little. The courses are also not heavily scripted so the instructor comes up with sentences as he goes, which I personally don’t mind but I can this being a nuisance for other people. Overall I’d say this has been a very good course so far, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in learning about RPG Maker MZ.

Yes, I am happy to be able to learn from an expert with this software. I am confident this will leave me at the end ready to program my own game.

I am really enjoying this course. The instructor goes into detail about all aspects about this game engine. It is obvious when you listen to him that he is very enthusiastic about the engine as well as teaching this course. He has been extremely responsive in answering questions. Thank you for the hard work you put into making this course.

Have only seen the intro yet but can’t wait to dive into the course.

I’m new to RPG Maker. I like that the course covers all the features of the RPG Maker in a way it makes sense. In each new lesson you use things you’ve learned in previous. The resources are very good. The assignments from each section make you practice what you’ve learned. The instructor replies pretty fast in case you need support.

I just hope I can have a game made after this course, ’cause I’ve been looking for it so long ago. But the course it’s being awesome until now.

Just finished the course. Even though it focuses mainly on the essentials, there’s something to learn even for experienced users. Some explanations might have took a bit too long, and some things could have been done better, but regardless, it’s a very fun course overall, specially because it motivates you to create something, and guides you through the whole process.
