Create a Blog with Mezzanine CMS – The Best Django CMS
$84.99 $14.99Track price
Looking for a WordPress alternative? Enjoy programming in Python? Do you love Django but wish you could have the core features there already by default and with a friendlier interface?
Well Mezzanine might be exactly what you are looking for.
Mezzanine is a powerful Content Management System that is built using the Django framework, but differs in that instead of having to build out models/view/templates for basic features, Mezzanine provides many of them by default, including the ability to create pages and posts in the admin with a beautiful, user–friendly interface.
Mezzanine can also be added onto a Django project and can be extended with e–commerce functionality.
In this course, you will learn all about its features as we build out a clean, responsive blog with dynamic blog posts, custom hero images, a contact form, and much more using Mezzanine’s tools and templates.
Why this class?
Because aside from the docs, there are hardly any tutorials out there for using Mezzanine, and any that you do find are from 4–5 years ago. Therefore, I decided to create one comprehensive, thorough course on it myself.
Also, it’s common for clients to ask for blogs to be built, but are opposed to using WordPress for various reasons. Mezzanine offers the perfect alternative for them!

One of the few Mezzanine courses I’ve been able to find and this course is a pretty comprehensive review of Mezzanine basics. Travis is a very engaging teacher and his explanations are easy to follow and through. Highly recommend the course.

Everything is spot on. Its what I ever wanted to learn with Django and Python, something easier to digest. But I really love Python and Django though

Helped a lot. Was stuck wondering how i’m gonna style my mezzanine project. This tutorial gave me a broader idea about how the mezzanine package works , hands on!

I greatly enjoy the course! Amazing tutor, helped me with suggestions on how to solve problems I had with running my project. It is so much fun and interesting! I did some courses on online platforms on Python and Django, this one is the best!

A better video resolution. 760 is not enough. Go for 1024pp

This was exactly the kind of crash course I was interested in. Thank you Travis for putting it together. It’s definitely useful to have some understanding of django before starting. The course is generally logically structured and the fact that the example project is quite simple helps a lot.

Very happy with the whole experience, somehow, I followed every word, made every click, and can’t believe that I was seeing the same thing. Mezzanine seems to me to be an absolute gang buster combo of tools, and frankly, compared to the NPM world of version hurt, I am just really thankful to be back in a less insane world of Python where a couple of pip commands can get you into a whole virtual environment of tools that actually work together. (How many dependencies and sub dependencies does npm bring in to handle ES6 for example? I think it was over 300, and surprise surprise, galloping cucumber needed a different version of crawling carat give me a break!)

Mezzanine is a powerful plate form to work on. My ratings are about the contents of this course only. Best topics: 1.) Customizing search, admin & tinymce. 2.) Three mezzanine homepage configuration. 3.) Cartridge install and set up. 4.) Adding an app and customizing all templates from that app. Missing: 1. No form built for users to post blog: Sir, user is not going to get into our admin login to post a blog. How about building a blog post form and then show it on our blog list page. 2. How to add mezzanine to an existing project or as an app to an existing project. 3.) Good Video Quality. Surprise Benefit: I got the course completion certificate for an incomplete course. Yes, the e commerce section is still incomplete. Hoping for new tutorials very soon. Thanks

errors while installing and setup

I really liked the teacher’s enthusiasm, however everything breaks once uploaded to the server most likely due to the ‘fab file’ and all the recent updates, dependencies, etc. etc.
