gRPC [Node.js] MasterClass: Build Modern API & Microservices
$99.99 $17.99Track price
gRPC is a new and modern framework for building scalable, modern and fast API. It is leveraged by many top tech companies such as Google, Square & Netflix and enables programmers to write micro–services in any language they want while keeping the ability to easily create communications between these services. It relies on Protocol Buffers for the transport mechanism and Service Definition language.
In this course, we are going to explore in–depth, with hands–on lectures, all the aspects to get started with gRPC.
This course is hands–on and you will implement two services: Greet and a Calculator Service.
In just a few hours, you will know everything you need to know to write your .proto files, generate code in your Favourite Programming, and implement your services, servers, and client in NodeJS. There will be plenty of hands–on lectures and exercises for you to practice your newly acquired skills.
It’s time to say goodbye to slow and clunky REST API, and opt–in for a better API framework.

Another excellent course by Stephane. Perfect length and level.

Good starting point for writing gRPC in Node.js, but nothing more, but it does have potential to really become great. I will change my rating to higer if the following changes : instructor starts answering questions instructor doesn’t really explain WHY are we doing something, sometimes it seems he doesn’t even know why and he is just following the offical documentation. add some videos for example show error handling on ALL the types of API s , not just 1 adds a project (I gave him a few ideas via private msg but he ignored that as well, at least he should have replied to the messages and said he doesn’t want to to that and explain why)

Great to get to know this tech. Very promising indeed. I understand that gRPC is available with almost all programming languages. My personal preference would have been to have a simple express app boilerplate that shows frontend functionality, possibly using form data, or a simple to do app, instead of just console logging every request/response. This course could have been many more hours long and i would not have lost interest. Would have liked to dive deeper into the gRPC built in methods/capabilities. The course was very well put together. Videos were understandable and all audio/video quality very good.

Provides good introduction to grpc with emphasis on hands on learning. Author should have used Prettier or something similar to cleanly indent/format the code.

Excellent!! Very clear explanations!!

This course information was great ! Am sure this would have major architectural design impact on my work. Thanks. I will be back shortly.

I subscribed to this course because I watched another by course by Stephane Maarek and I liked his eaching approach. This course hands on part is done by Paulo Dichone. I didn’t like his approach. He didn’t explain what he is trying to accomplish well, didn’t have good code practices, constantly made mistakes. It made me feel like he didn’t prepare and didn’t practice. This is a paid course. He should have done better. Also, some parts seemed outdated although it says the course was updated in June 2021. I still learned some, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
