Even before I was halfway through I rated this as a 5 star course. [See end of this review for an update] The explanations are crystal clear and the instructor is both knowledgeable and personable. The step by step of building a site is highly motivating. You don't have to build the exact site he's doing this isn't paint by numbers but the example site is a good template to work with. For about four years I have been frustrated with my WordPress sites because I didn't know enough about HTML and CSS. I also wanted to build a home page for my photography business that I could use to tie together Lightroom galleries. I felt so incompetent and stupid whenever I'd ask for help on various forums; gave up over and over. This course has allowed me to understand everything I needed, and I feel so much more confident now. And you know what? It is FUN. My only caution: When you start this course, be sure you will have some blocks of time to work on it. I think that doing one lesson per day, for example, it would be really difficult to retain what you'd learned. And you MUST do the coding along with the videos, you can't just watch them. For me the "boot camp" intensive approach works best. I went through six sections (40 lessons) in two days, but at the end I really had a good grasp and had build a functioning page. Update: Now finished! I guess there are only two small things that make this a 4.5 star course. One is that in the last section, the video on browser testing is outdated. Adobe hasn’t offered Browser labs since March, and so that lecture is less helpful than it should be. The other thing is that I expected to learn a bit more about the specific new elements of HTML5. Much of this seemed to be standard HTML coding. But these are quibbles. I still think it’s an excellent course. I completed both the case study website and one for myself during the few days that I took the course. That’s pretty amazing.

I really enjoyed talking this course. Great for learning HTML5 and CSS. Well worth the price. The instructor was interesting and easy to follow. The courses are divided into logical nuggets that are so easy to understand. The best way to do this course is to do the course along with the instructor.

This course was very comprehensive, and best of all, NOT boring! I’ve taken several HTML/CSS courses lately, both through Udemy and other online tutorial sites, and find this to be one of the better ones. Thanks Geoff! I learned a on. 😉

I have some basic knowledge of html and a lot less of css. I took this course in hopes of understanding css better and came away with a fount of knowledge! The course is well laid out, the teacher is knowledgeable and has a pleasant voice and entertaining style of speaking. And most importantly, he explained each item in detail and showed examples that clearly showed the results. I’m definitely keeping Jeff and Ten Ton Web Design on my list for future classes. Thanks!

Well presented. The details matters; showing how the components work is what matters and you killed it. thumbs up…. 🙂

I love this course. The instructor has nicely grouped tutorials by concept; his explanations are clear and concise; and users so far can easily follow along and get the results presented in the tutorial.

Love the way the instructor lays out the fundamental principles of building a web page. No technical semantics or jargon, just ‘in your face simple principles and structure of writing HTML5 to a Text Editor.
