Intro to Python through Pygame Game development

Hello,

Welcome to the course on creating video games with PyGame. I’m sure by now many of you have heard about Unreal Engine 4 and maybe even looked into learning how to code in C++ to create the game you’ve always wanted to. Or you have looked into Unity which uses C# as its language of choice. And while those engines are great at making AAA games such as the Batman Arkham series of games (Unreal Engine) and Firewatch(Unity) there is a great game engine that, while you might not be making AAA games like the ones previously stated, can still create some good looking and fun to play games. This game engine is known as PyGame.

Python is a scripting language that is used in many things from your computer’s operating system to big corporations streaming services such as Netflix. It’s also used in some of the top video games created as the scripting language for AI and NPC characters.

In this course you will learn the very basics of Python. If you’ve never programmed before I try my best to break concepts down in to easy to digest and fun exercises. We cover such topics as:
