This course will teach you the basics of building modern web pages from the very beginning. You don’t need any prior knowledge of coding, just a web browser, a text editor and enthusiasm to learn how web pages work. Starting with a completely blank screen, first you will learn how to code in HTML – structuring a basic page and adding text, as well as linking pages together. Then start to add different types of content to your pages, including lists, tables and forms, before moving on to images and media files. You will also find out how to use HTML5 semantic elements to structure your pages.
Next, learn how to style the pages with CSS, changing colours, fonts and backgrounds and adding borders, margins and padding to enhance your designs. Move on to methods which are especially useful in styling tables and lists, and then discover newer techniques in CSS3 which will allow you to transform elements and add attractive transition effects. You will also learn about various ways of laying out elements on your page. Finally, you can work through building a sample template to put some of the things you’ve learned into practice and see how HTML and CSS work together to produce the finished page.
