JSON stands for JavaScript Object Notation. JSON has become a widely accepted and popular format for data due to it s platform neutral nature, lightweight format, and it s ability to convert directly to native JavaScript Objects. JSON is being used everywhere from Web APIs, to noSQL databases, to server side language libraries and client side frameworks.
This course will give you a low level understanding of JSON syntax, data types, and formatting, followed by a high level introduction into the many applications of JSON out in the world today. This course will also address security concerns with JSON, so you can use JSON in your own applications with confidence.
Putting JSON in your tool–belt is the first step. This course will give you not just an understanding of JSON syntax, but and understanding the role JSON is currently playing in the web today.
In Web Development there are a lot of buzzwords buzzing like:
This course seeks to inspire you in how you can use the new JSON in your toolbelt through exposing you to the role JSON plays in these technologies. Join me, Marie Taylor, and learn JSON today.

Mary Saha –
Good introduction. I would have liked some hands on practice.
Rachel Phillips –
I did find parts of this course difficult to follow because they used HTML and other terms I am not yet familiar with. I think this course would be better suited for people who have some technical background.
Rob Petersen –
Yes, I needed a Day 1 entry explanation of the terms. Love it.
Reuben Cole –
It was OK, sometimes the words are not clear (even with Captions ON). The only real live, practical example shown on Video was about XML and not JSON.
Alan –
So far this course is a very good match. Just a note the second slide in the course (I think) says independant it’s independent
Raf Jablonsky –
very clear explanation what JSON is and what is not. Great introduction to JSON. Valuable course for any JSON beginner.
Marcos Detry –
Excellent for understanding the basics of Json. A little outdated with programming examples.
Eleni –
First couple of chapters are really good, then there is a huge jump to a written code/scripting with minimal explaining. For a beginner like me it was impossible to follow.
Hugh Clarke –
So far so good. I wish it narrator was a little more upbeat, but good so far.
Utisa Farrell –
Marie Taylor was great and I will take another course withe her. Thank you
Sanjay Sreedhar –
It was a good course no doubt. Got a good understanding about low level details of JSON and how it is used with different tools and frameworks. Would have been better, if we could see some examples of how JSON works with Java, since I am a Java developer. Nevertherless, thank you very much for the content.. 🙂
