Welcome to this 2 part course series on JQuery and React!
In the first part of the course we go in–depth on JQuery, where you’ll learn the fundamentals of JQuery and have a good understanding of it after completion.
Throughout this course you will build several projects to give you the ability to integrate jQuery in your own projects to add that extra level of interactivity to any site you work on.
jQuery is the most popular JavaScript library today. This course will teach you all the basic of it and how to use jQuery s core features.
You ll learn how to interact with the Document Object Model (DOM), use web developer tools, and get started with reading and understanding documentation to help you take on your own projects.
For those developers that want to add more tools to their developer’s tool belt, there is a bonus course on React. In this section you’ll learn the basics of the React library and how to use it to create two projects: a browser–based activity counter app and a simple website for displaying data drawn from an API.
As we go through the course, you’ll learn how to set up your development environment, including helpful tools such as Babel and webpack; create new components; use props and state to pass data between components; use routes to map URLs to views; and organize projects with nested components and routes.

There is a mistake in the JavaScript code of the file lightbox.css, in Project 1 (Lightbox): .lb nav a.lb next { width: 64%; Because of the value 64 the right hand arrow, which points to the next photograph, is not visible. If the value is changed to 34%, i.e. the same as that of the arrow pointing to the previous photograph, the arrow becomes visible: .lb nav a.lb next { width: 34%;

Fantastic. Erin’s clearly put in a tremendous amount of effort setting up course projects and making them accessible. She occasionally references some notes, however, that I can’t seem to find in the class resources, and some of the things she casually mentions may require more background for non CS degree holders (for example, what is a tree? might be a question that less experienced programmers might have). I’m a professional back end programmer looking to dabble in browser graphics using three.js and jQuery for some side projects. This is much easier and less time consuming than mucking about with documentation, and Erin’s a real joy to learn from. You need to take this course!

A really informative essentials course giving me the JQuery basics to obtain the right tools that we need to not only navigate the DOM but how to use the APIs and examples from both JQuery and Bootstrap (even Light Box) to enhance the web projects worked on. The class also allowed me to do some experimenting while working through the projects (because there could be a couple of ways to solve a project). For example I tried to do some of the examples on my own particularly the last one and while I may not have had the best code optimization, I was headed in the right direction once I looked at the instructor’s solution and my own. However, after reviewing her code, I then knew why her solution was optimal. This course was more hands on that the last class I took from another online training company who swamped us with examples mostly selector drills but that class really didn’t delve into how to get the most out of bootstrap nor Ajax with JSON.

Im hoping that in six months I can review this course and find it easier. Right now it was very challenging ( in terms of writing functions and understanding problem analysis). I intend to retake the whole course to make sure I really understand these projects. Id been exposed to jQuery but this course helped cement some concepts, as well as increasing my confidence in using the code and researching the documentation for jQuery & Bootstrap. I considered taking off a star for not having anyone available to answer questions and not providing ‘show notes’, but that still doesnt take away from the intrinsic value of the course. Presented well and clearly but if you are a beginner like me dont expect complete spoon feeding.

Good lecture. Slowly and clearly explain. Very good

topics are well described. The Pace can be slow at times but worth the end result knowledge of using Jquery the right way. I have learned a lot through examples that I would always struggle on such as using the preventDefault() method.

Course is majestic! Not only best course in jQuery, but best course overall, because Erin is using so far unique approach, she is teaching us how to search, where to search and how to implement it, so this course is extended, teaching us to explore documentation, and find solutions in the future. I wish if Erin had more courses for jQuery and related libraries, and also if other authors start using this approach of teaching too, Udemy will become better place. Once again, Erin Thank You!
