You have some notion of what Node, Express, and http are or you wouldn’t be here. Node and back–end JavaScript have taken the world by storm, [SOME BIG COMPANY] moved to node and it changed the world, blah blah blah. One of the first things you’re going to learn in any node course is about the Express module. But how much do you really learn about it? How to render a page in one template engine? How to make a get and a post route? Most MEAN and MERN stacks students I’ve met learned Express in a few breaths and then moved on to MongoDB, MySQL, Angular, React, or whatever was in the rest of the tech stack. What is http anyway? Should I even care? It’s easy to get 2 inches deep and find you’ve accomplished your task, but in fact have no idea why it works or how you’d go further. That, in my opinion, is no good for someone who wants to be a great developer.
I’ve had a lot of students ask for a course on just Express js because they were either overwhelmed when they learned it, or they can’t find any detail on it to go further than beginner knowledge. That’s what this course is for. We will go through the various pieces of Express in detail so you can know why it behaves the way it does and get the most out of it. Express 5 is currently in alpha, so when it hits beta or full release, and as questions come up, the course will expand accordingly!

It would be nice if you have included, error handling and authentication(using sessions).

Wow. I bought this course for the API section, after watching the course preview, and really liking the style of the instructor. It had everything I needed, and more. This course is almost like a mini CS college course, that is very detailed and thorough. The beginning sections on HTTP are some of the best explanations I’ve ever seen. Rob’s kind of like a fun, yet super experienced tour guide of the web development world. Def became one of my new go to instructors. I’d love to see him make a MERN course. Oh, and he seems to be very active in the Q&A, answering just about every question, as far as I can tell. Props for that.

Yes, it is filling gaps in my experience with express. I hacked on an app for a few weeks but needed a bit deeper instruction.

best express course ever, Rob is great !!

Enjoy the course! I did.

Very thorough course on using Express. I’m a front end developer who knew the very basics of Express, but I feel confident now in making my own full stack apps using Node.js and Express. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to learn Express really well.

Robert serves an important kind of student, the person who wants to get beyond the surface knowledge of code alongs. That surface is really important for getting started, but Robert’s classes help the student take the next step toward actually doing coding without training wheels.

Nice work on this course. I love this approach of just learning express. I have learned alot. Thanks alot

This course was excellent. I really appreciated the deep dive and continual focus on Express. I have taken a number of courses that covered Express (including several MERN courses) but they ended up just gliding over that ‘E’ and not explaining it much. I have since picked up Robert Bunch’s courses on SocketIO and React, hoping that the same magic will happen there!

I already worked with Angular but wanted to have a quick guide to begin with Express, and hopefully become a JS fullstack dev. This course has given me the necessary to build a project by my own!

Just auditing the course and highly impressed with structure of course and how Robert has kept it well focused on Express. Robert is one of the very good instructors on this platform. Some Areas of improvement for this course : 1. Robert should slow down when he is going thru concepts that are critical for learners 2. Please stop your habit of writing too long comments in code, I agree your comments are great in re enforcing important concepts. But please try to shorten them. Keep up the good work, You will soon see me in your react course as well.

So far it’s really helped clarify what happens when you make a server. I appreciated starting with the built in module before going to express. In my job training we jumped into express and I felt uncomfortable essentially building a backend with a black box.

Great course. The content is clear and this was the only good course that I could find that goes in depth on Express. I’m also, glad he added some Supplemental content for non express (but related) topics in the end.

Perhaps one of the best course from Udemy, and definitely the best teacher. Clear and comprehensive.
Senthil Kumar –
Awesome explanation

In generally it is a good course and shows a lot about express independent that parts are outdated. [Suggestion] and I would like to see this course using ECMAScript modules.

It was a good concise course. I would’ve liked if you went more into detail about folder structure / architecture. I know its subjective, but hearing your opinion on the matter for each section wouldve been good.
