The instructor is great, quick pace, positive attitude, knowledgeable. I love short videos that put a lot of information in a short amount of time. But that is where I also take off 1 point (I wish I could just take off only half a point). They might be a little too short and a little too fast moving. Maybe a little more explanation and flesh out the game a little more with some new features to make it feel like a complete (but tiny) game a simple menu, a game over graphic (we already have the game over events), a restart or return to menu option between rounds, and an exit on the main menu so it feels like a complete project. I will say that I learned a lot and this course inspired me to spend as much time tweaking the game as we spent making it in the first place by adding physics crates that react to bullet impacts and break into wood chunks, different bullet impact particles for crates, walls, or enemies. When a bullet hits a crate or enemy they flash white (set color) for visual feedback that they are getting hit. Enemies spawn a red sprite for a blood decal on the floor on death. You could keep adding to the game as a good base to try out things, so for that I am very happy. Actually, after just the first few videos I liked how the course was going so well that I bought Jeremy’s Construct 2 RPG course also and really looking forward to that one.

The lessons are delivered in quick bite size chunks which made new content easy to digest and not quite as daunting. I started the course with no idea of how to do anything in C2, and now I feel like I know enough to go away and create my own shooter game. The instructor does race through things quickly, but so long as you’re prepared to pause, rewatch and fully digest what’s being taught, everything is in there. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and would definitely recommend it.

Love the course and the method in which it is taught. You can go from having no knowledge to having some real skill in C2 in a short time. I’ve been using C2 for a long time but I’ve learned more in Jeremy’s Classes then I have in years on my own. I never went to college but I feel like a real college student… Thank you Professor Jeremy!

The only thing that could really make this course better would be if the instructor would add just a little more explanation why certain things are done. This course is easy to follow along with, and the quality of the videos is great.

IT IS THE BEST LESSON EVER!!!!

This course, like his other, provides a good step by step in creating a core game. Instructor also let’s the student know what else they can add and allows us to think about additional things to add into the game. Thoroughly enjoyed this learning experience.

As far as I got now, I can say that I like the course content. I can only give it a three and a half stars rating, because of two things: The first thing is, that the teacher bolts through the course in a speed, that forces me to go back and repeat important steps, again and again. Most of the time, I need to rewind the clip because I couldn’t follow the cursor. The second issue is, that the explanations of the his actions come very short. For example, there is a section where he groups up some events. In a second, a group window opens up and after this, all the events are inside a group tab. I’m was left without a clue, how he did this. I needed to work it out by myself and look it up in the Construct 2 manual. Good content, but way to fast to follow.

I think the course is great, but the instructor is going too fast. I ended up having to rewind 5 or 6 times every 20 seconds. It would also be good to have a text box showing the exact keys and right/left mouse clicks the instructor is executing during instruction.

Before taking this course I’ve seen some of Jeremy’s tutorials on YouTube so I felt comfortable going into this course and I knew I was going to come out of it with a wealth of knowledge. I’m just learning Construct and Jeremy explains things in a way that’s easy to understand for beginners. After taking this course I feel more than confident that I can start building my own game in Construct. If you’re having doubts about taking this course, I highly recommend taking it. You’ll learn a lot and with Jeremy as the instructor you’re in good hands.

I really enjoyed this course. Jeremy is an excellent instructor. I would recommend all of his courses for anyone wanting to learn Construct 2. They are directly related to that game engine. He provides explanation for developing a game and the concepts behind the programming going into the game mechanics. I’m more interested in the game design and creation end of things and not much of a programmer. I’m working on it though, and starting with Construct 2 and Jeremy’s courses I have my first game nearly complete. He leaves more things open like health and ammo pick ups. I’d love for him to go more into an inventory system for his courses. Much of what you learn leaves you primed to add on with your concepts and continue your game design. For instance I created a shield using the enemy AI concept from this video for when it hits walls. I add simple subtract to the enemy health variable and now I have a force field that damages enemies and protects the player from projectiles and enemy collision. This understanding all came from this awesome course.
