Don’t take this class if you are new to Jquery. It is an exercise in frustration. I had to drop out after my first example. As a newbie I have no way of knowing which functions are deprecated. I spent hours on my first example. I thought I was losing my intelligence. .load() is deprecated and it is the first example of coding in this course off to a frustrating start. I took Rob Percival’s course and he made is seem to easy that I wanted to get more hands on training. If you want to learn less this is class. I just can’t figure out why would anyone continue to sell/promote a class that is pretty much useless. SMH. I bought this in a promotion. The teacher had a great teaching style (2 stars) and I was tempted to continue with the course, but what good is it if he is teaching a lot of useless information. Judging by the discussions, there is little participation from him.

I see that for most of the comments by students, there is no response from the instructor!

I’m only on Lecture 3, but so far this course is excellent and the instructor is very knowledgable. I like going through each and every example. It’s the best way to learn; the more examples, the better.

I like these types of courses and I wish there were more like this. The thing to keep in mind about this one, it’s very long. If you want a comprehensive course that covers jQuery, this is it. You won’t be getting into a lot of complex control flow operations (like loops, conditionals, etc.), this is pure jQuery functions. Think of it like a guided tour through the jQuery API. There’s one downside; the age of this course means there might be a few functions that have changed with newer versions of jQuery, or in at least one case, a function might be covered here that’s been removed. You’re also not going to be learning best practices, like how to structure your code or proper design patterns. Again, this is just a tour of jQuery functions, what they do, how they work, and how they’re used. Courses like this are helpful, not because you’re expected to memorize all the material. The point is, later on when you’re working on a project and you’re trying to figure out how to get something done, you’re more likely to remember I’ve seen a solution for this before. You might not remember the exact syntax, but after taking a course like this, you’ll know enough that there’s a thing out there that will do what you want, and it gives you enough to go on to research what it is and how to use it. Another course I took that was similar to this was an Ansible course. It worked the same way, they went over almost all of the core Ansible modules and common methods. By the end I didn’t have it all memorized, but when I had to go use Ansible at work, I knew enough to know where to look. Other than the age of the course, my only other complaint is the video quality. It says 720p but it looks more like 480p. It’s a bit fuzzy. Still, you get used to it and it’s not too bad. There’s no other course on jQuery I’ve found that’s quite like this. It will take you a few sittings to get through it (I’ve been at it for 2 days straight and I’m not even 1/3 of the way through), but by the end, you’ll know more than enough to be dangerous!

Very useful. The instructor explains each step clearly.

Great course. Really a lot of usefull stuff. However, a few things with ajax doesnt work, since it demands sqli instead of sql. This should be fixed.

The tutorials are clear and detailed. I would give 5 stars but unfortunately some methods are deprecated or removed from current jQuery version.
John Bosi –
Much like jQuery documentation, the course so far has provided instructions through clear interactions between jQuery, CSS, and HTML on the page with varying degrees of complexity.

Video’s quality is terrible but training seems like it has good quality.

Obviously this course is a little dated at this point but gives a good overview of jQuery.
