Writing Plugins for WordPress is easier than you can imagine. You only need a simple understanding of PHP to create your first plugin. Obviously, the more PHP, CSS and Javascript you know, the more you can do, but Working within WordPress makes it easy.
There is plenty of Development Documentation already available, but most documentation, especially from WordPress is reference material and is only useful when you have a plan and know what you need to be looking for. This is why most WordPress Developers consider themselves self–taught. They have had to learn a great deal by experiment, hints from others and reverse engineering other peoples code. With this course you can cut down on all that hassle and get a leg up to some simple tactics for producing quality and strong plugins for your own.
Its a big market !
There are tens of millions of WordPress sites live now. The biggest plugins have millions of users and many leading premium plugins have thousands of paying users. However, I make most of my revenue by creating simple plugins for specific needs of customers, and creating custom sites for them running my custom plugins. Some fail to even realise they are using WordPress!
Don t worry about companies like Square space or Wix, mega themes like Divi… These products don t take customers away from you, they make more opportunities. As soon as the customer wants something a little different, all these products fall down, and you can often solve their issue with a simple plugin.

EDIT from 26th may 2018: Due to the efforts made in re recording the audio in a better way, I change my note from 2.5 star to 4.5 stars end of EDIT Original review, below: I’m now a the end of the first plugin, the course seems very interesting, ….. BUT the audio is horrible …. the voice is jerky, slow flow with long silences between fragments of sentences, we hear constantly Mic ‘pop’ noises which are very annoying and disturbing, added with mouth and respiration noises. I think that, If the content of the course is obviously great in quality, the production is very amateurish and somwhere Udemy should have a quality control service who check the videos before putting them in line. I keep the course (I had it in promo at 10.99 I don’t ask a refund), I also recommend the course because WordPress plugings is an attractive subject, and the course is new and up to date but I feel authors should make efforts when recording… checking the first video they do, and adjusting sound problems before continuing.. I run myself a Youtube channel with tutos and before publishing I make long editing of my videos to produce the best audio track possible, without noises, pops, hesitations and repetitons.. etc. Lionel (from France)

Excellent lecture, it change the way I write the WordPress plugin and theme, it help me a lot. But sir, to be honest, it is better if you not just copy and paste the code, it will be more helpful if you type the code and explain what you do. And also you need to format the code to be more readable. Thank you.
John Anderson –
John covers a wide variety of plugin types. He has a friendly and concise manner in the way he explains things and provides plenty of working attachments to download and follow. At all times I found the audio very clear and easy to listen to. I also found John very responsive to questions. If you are still grappling with WordPress plugins, PHP, code structure and the like then this is the course for you.
