Over the past several years, game development has grown into something that anyone can do. The barrier to entry is continually getting lower, and with so many tools to make the process easier, there s nothing stopping you from getting started! In this course, we will learn the basics of creating games using MonoGame, a game framework with a rich history rooted in indie development. Hundreds of successful titles have been published that utilize this software, including Stardew Valley, Celeste, Fez, Axiom Verge, and Bastion, each of which has well above one million sales on Steam. The programming language we will be using is C#, one of the most widely used languages in the industry. The combination of a solid game engine and a well–documented programming language will provide everything you need to create any game you can imagine.
This is a project–based course: we will apply the programming and game development fundamentals that we discuss to create our own MonoGame projects. The lectures assume no prior technical knowledge, and whether or not you have programmed before, there is content in this course that can be utilized by anyone. After the introductory section, the course will be divided into three sections discussing C# programming, and three sections that go through the process of developing with MonoGame. We will alternate between programming sections and game development sections in order to get started making games as quickly as possible.

great material! instructor is clear, concise, and teaches you everything you need to know to get you started on your journey!!! expect to run into MANY issues with monogame/visual studio versioning. you will have problems and they will take several hours to resolve on your own via forum discussions.

Pretty basic which is good for someone first time mono, would of liked to have found more information of graphics related classes. Not much out there for mono.
Ryan Murphy –
Very helpful. Thank you!

Really great, basic introduction to MonoGame game development and a good C# programming practice course. Tip/Critics: Since this a basic course is understandable why is the code so raw and barely organize. So if you ever make a follow up course, a good thing to add to that part 2 would be to implement some organization of the code, managers, state system etc. Thank you.

I’m currently a substitute c# Teacher, and i’ve take several c# courses in real life to fill up requirements, but sadly you won’t learn much from them, they stick to the same things over and over. In order to make my class more dynamic i have decided to explore the c# for game development and show to my students there are many other things you can do with this tool, of course, i’ll teach them this other path once they are great at concepts like classes, constructors, inheritance, etc. So i have find out that this is the best course to accomplish my goal, so keep it up, you’re doing great job here.

I am 12 years old, and I have only written games in Scratch, but with only one C# class in Udemy, and your awesome MonoGame class, I am making incredible games. Thank you!

This was an excellent course for learning both C# and Monogame. The instructor did an amazing job describing everything, as well as the overall flow of the course.

Instructor’s voice is clear and pleasant and he’s good at explaining what’s going on. Some content not current, but if you’re aware of that you can figure out how to apply the new stuff. It’s a good introductory course and I learned a lot about Monogame. Thanks.

I already know some C#, but I needed some guidance on how the pieces fit together. This course is perfect for putting the missing piecing together.

Taking a course that has a game as the class project. This tutorial has a lot of information.

The content is really engaging and helpful. I developed some projects for my University in Unity, but my biggest interest was to try something more codeful. Unfortunately, it’s somewhat difficult to find a more complete introductory tutorial and resources on the web about MonoGame. Surely the content of this course helped me a lot to answer and put some doubts and questions on the right place. One issue I had though, is that the Monogame.Extended packages were updated, and my VS installed the newer versions, and some things didn’t correctly worked, so I needed to re setup my RPG project and use the NuGet Packaged manager to assign the older versions… Anyway, in spite of that, keep the great work! Looking forward some Monogame tutorials with design patterns and games architecture for the advanced students. Thank you!

Great work by the instructor.
Joshua Holden –
I didn’t realise it was an introduction, a bit basic.
Brad Haywood –
Went from zero C# and MonoGame experience to very confident. I did come from an ANSI C background, so that obviously helps a little, but I think even without that, anybody could learn a lot from these lectures. Highly recommended!

Content not updated even tho in the video says it will be. Comments not answered. Old version of MonoGame explained thus a lot of things fail. e.g. loading Sprints.
Sami Badawi –
Very fast an accessible introduction to MonoGame 3.8.
