I’m not one to write such detailed reviews but I thought this course warrants one. Firstly, the OOP related content and explanations are quite good, and I’d certainly recommend this course if you are relatively experienced in PHP but have a limited knowledge of OOP PHP. I did however get quite confused at points throughout the course and had to watch parts of the videos again to understand what was being explained and I certainly think these parts of the course could have been explained more effectively. My only other criticism of the course was the use of some less than best practices. The course was obviously based on PHP 5.5+ however the classes were included as individual statements rather than utilising the far more effective autoload methods. Overall a good course and certainly worth taking, however I think $99 is quite overpriced given the content is only 2 hours of video in total.

Good

Teacher very professional but tells so fast, passes quickly, Content not enaugh and lecture time periods are long
Shelton Gayles –
Great course, easy to complete in an hour or so

The skill of the instructor is incredible!

The information was to the point, presented clearly, and well organized. The content was exactly as described, making a registration/login system system start to finish. Code was explained, and reasons given for the choices being made. Thanks.

I learned a lot from this tutorial, but I got lost halfway through, mailing because this tutorial didn’t come with a real life application. It simply showed how to do an OOP login for the sake of doing an OOP login.

I had been looking for a complete (not a half baked, don’t use this on a live site) login/registration system using PDO and was glad to find this one. However, the instructor talks very quickly and even after completing the course I really don’t understand much more than I did before. I think the instructor needs to slow down a little and explain things more clearly so we can understand what is actually happening.

Parts of what is advertised in the video are missing. I purchased this course for the login roles, but they are missing. Not worth buying..

It is very exciting to finally come across a working, usable example, detailing how to create a working CMS login/logout example using PHP. I have knocked half a star off because it felt like the clear explanations became a fraction less clear as the videos progressed. I think in part because there was so much to fit in and in part because the teacher clearly knows his stuff and it felt like he was increasingly ‘in the zone’ and might have forgotten in a small way that not everything is necessarily instantly intuitive to the student. Really grateful to come across such a great example though and will be looking to see if there are any further videos by the same teacher! This is ‘the’ course I have been looking for and provides a far better basis for further study than anything else (book, web examples, magazines) I have been able to find. Thank you. Genuinely grateful you were willing to teach a topic that many others seem to shy away from!

very neat

This course is not for beginners, I figured that out the hard way. I am just getting started with PHP so I had to rewind and watch several parts because I got a little lost. The instructor moves steadily, but if you have a bit more PHP experience I’m sure he would be quite easy to follow. He explains everything that he is doing quite well. Good course!

Excellent course. Moves fast. Instructor is clearly VERY knowledgeable. Will have to step thru it several times to let it all sink in.

I really like the way Alex teaches the subject of PHP. I find his teaching method easy to understand and follow and while this course is a bit outdated (I am almost certain if he were to redo it there would be significant changes), there is still a lot to learn from this and it leaves the door open to modify it and bring it up to date with namespacing, etc instead of those dreaded requires. A very good primer and certainly something that every PHP programmer should have in the toolbox ready to go.

Good PHP OOP tutorial. Easy to understand. Thanks!
