Do you want to learn to edit audio to create professional sound effects? Or are you a game developer who loves to make games? But you don t know where to start with learning about audio and sound? Or maybe you re a video game composer who wants to dive into the world of sound design.
In this course, we will teach you how to recreate the sound of Illaoi’s Tentacle Smash Sound Effect with the Audio Editing Program Reaper. I will be providing you with the source recordings so you can follow along yourself. And I will also be giving you the original session that I created so you can see exactly what I did. Then we ll use the tools we learned from Reaper to teach about the different effects that are available in Reaper including Equalizers, Pitch Shifting, Compressors and limiters.
And you ll get to watch me create all of this step by step so you can follow along and try making it yourself.
Getting started with making sound effects can be expensive and difficult, so I made this course to help people get started with sound design and audio editing without investing too much time or money. Reaper is free for the first 60 days and I provide you with the audio files so you can create the same exact sound effect that I did.

The course was in depth and easy to follow. You learn a lot from this course as a sound designer for beginners. You learn a lot from theory and from the practical, I highly recommend this course. The lecturer is fun to listen to, is passionate about the course and ofcourse he makes it fun to do sound design.

This course is perfect for anyone from beginner to advanced. The instructor takes the time to teach the viewer everything from the basics, how to use the tools and how to create the content. This is a perfect example of how to properly teach and will be using everything I learned from this course and apply it.

Great course! Even as someone who knows quite a lot about audio I learned some great tips and tricks and look forward to applying this knowledge to my own work. It’s great to learn the rather mundane aspects of the DAW through the exciting real world application of reproducing this sound effect. Especially recommended for beginners to audio and sound design.

The course was good at explaining exactly what everything did and why it should be used but kept to the point. The sound created at the end fit the video well considering I’ve never heard the orinigonal sound file. To impove however, sometimes you feel disconnected from the audience lecture 9 is very waffly when trying to describe your exaples, could be more concise but the rest with the photoshop image is great possible have a light script to follow so there is less stuttering to keep the learner engaged, sometimes you feel disconnected from the audience

This a high quality course, marred only slightly by inexperience of the tutor. The content is solid and well presented, with high fidelity video and audio. The instructor clearly has a passion for his work, and his delivery makes new tools and skills accessible to those new to sound design.

Full disclosure: I was invited to take this course for free by Ryan Stunkel in exchange for giving him feedback on it. This course is a good introduction for using a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) application or more precisely, using REAPER (a DAW) to edit audio to produce new sound effects. It covers some of the more common and frequently used tools for sound production. Having a prior background in audio editing for video production, I was already familiar with many of the tools covered here in this video. However, much of that knowledge was basic and rough, since much of that knowledge was either self taught or learned through on the job experience, so I still got a lot out of this video instruction course, as Ryan’s instruction made some concepts clearer for me, and even showed me new uses for tools that I would not have thought of on my own. The topic of this course, remaking a specific sound from a specific game, is very narrow, so mileage may vary, but I think more importantly this course acts as a springboard for learning the basic tools of sound design editing. Overall, this is a good short course for if you’re new to sound design or looking to polish up your skills. Also it’s quite short at 2.5 hours.
