SQL & Database Design A-Z : Learn MS SQL Server + PostgreSQL
$109.99 $15.99Track price
Are you interested in a career in Data Science or Data Analytics?
In that case, inevitably you are going to encounter databases in your work.
But how do you interact with databases?
The answer is simple: SQL
SQL stands for Structured Query Language and this is one of the main tools used to organize databases, input data into them and extract it on request.
In this course you will learn how to create queries in a popular variation of SQL called PostgreSQL.
And even if at your workplace you are using a different variation (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL), you will find that the skills you learn in this course are easily transferable.
But there are many SQL courses out there, so the question is:
What makes this course stand out?
The unique advantage of this course is that in addition to learning SQL you will also master the concepts of Database Design.
We will cover off topics such as:
– OLAP vs OLTP databases (Online Analytics Processing & Online Transaction Processing): you will understand exactly how and why the designs of these two types of Databases differ
– Normalization of Databases: we will show you the theory behind normalization AND together we will practice how to normalize a Database step–by–step

so far this joining table course has been very interesting. Feeling confident so far and excited to learn more. Having good practice to work with lots of data table. One thing that I want say is that in section 1 to section 6, the audio is very poor. its really very low though I full volume in my computer. difficult to listen instructor tutorial. it will be great if this can be improved. Otherwise everything good good!! at the end really understood the concept of database designing with OLTP data..

Disappointed. Often confusing or convoluted explanations. Mistakes made (though corrected) in Queries. Lectures just didn’t seemed planned. The two databases MS SQL and PostgreSQL meant a great deal of duplication and was a time waster. The Normalization lectures in MS SQL was good but required patience because of lecture explanations and their length.

I was nervous about taking any approach to learning SQL after being and advanced Excel VBA user. There are books and other courses I have tried to read to try to comprehend SQL, but nothing has made more sense than taking this course. This is a great course to start with to comprehend the power of SQL as a beginner. It is impressive!
Philipe de Moraes Gomes –
The audio is very low. I almost could not hear the presenter
Pedro Henrique Hauy Netto de Araujo –
Would have been five stars if it had aggregation functions.
Andreas Jelvemark –
It’s a part of a common skillup course at my work. This is a bit too basic for me, but I won’t that let it influence the score. Not sure that I see much point in doing more or less the same things in PostgreSQL and in MS SQL perhaps would be better to focus on other things like security?

Amazing experience, rich in content comprehensive in details. i will recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn postgres sql

Very informative and well structured!
Reghardt van Dyk –
More detail for noobs might be in order. Otherwise, nicely done.
Rahul Jayaram –
Very nice so far

It is a great course and explains how to retrieve data from SQL databases and explains the principles of good database design. It would have been great to give the learner an outlook what else the student can still learn about SQL databases because I am not sure if this was all about to learn for SQL.

The course was great and support assistance was way better than great. Kirill rating 4.5 Daniel 5 (Great and timely response to all my queries) Thanks Puneet

Superb combination good explainer Ilya + good example data set. Pros: great data set for practice great step by step theory section well tailored scope for beginers first you are learing how to merge table and then… how do decomposite them to keep Data Base efficient.
Miguel Angel Huam n Rios –
I enjoyed a lot, the explanations are clear and the classes were presented in a esay way.
Software Group –
really good
Luke Marston –
Kirill is the best

I love the hands on practice and detailed explanation of the instructors. They made the concepts very intuitive and easy to digest and remember.
Elif Beder –
Ilya explains the topics very well. It’s clear, actually too clear. He shows the same examples over and over on both PostgreSQL and also MS SQL Server. It could have been a 4 hour long course and you wouldn’t feel the difference.
Jerry Gilland –
The course flow feels natural, where it’s building stepping stones in a way where I’m learning at a good pace. Feeling accomplished already.
Duc Hong –
It’s a good course, and I learned a lot not knowing a whole lot about SQL and it’s coding part. I like the way the Instructors presented the materials, and going through the exercises to really understanding the concepts of SQL in a simple way. I would like to see some sections on how SQL is connected through Python with coding and Tableau for the visualization. Also update software to the latest MS SQL Server to 2019, and re do some of the video as the sound quality is low.
Rupika Sharma –
The course was very good. All the concepts were explained with examples. I believe the course could have been worth 5 stars if it included some database for practice and in some lectures voice was very low and not clear.
Ranganathan Venkataramani –
Much varied data set as compared to the Data Science A Z training sets, used for SSIS and SQL training. Had a great learning session in the videos especially the try and compare ideas were fun.
Lyle Wohlfarth –
This is a pretty good introduction to SQL. It is nice to get exposure to two different platforms, but some of the lectures get a little repetitive as they go through the motions the second time. There isn’t much discussion of the pros/cons of each platform, and they also leave it to you to notice the few slight differences in syntax between the two flavors. Generally, the guys seem to know their stuff and the theory discussions are interesting and helpful. This course does NOT cover stored procedures.
Gregory Green –
So far its a reminder of things I’ve already read, so good in that sense.
William DeGraw –
My goal was to learn PostgreSQL and that’s exactly what was accomplished. I did attempt to go along learning the Microsoft SQL software but skipped it as it distracted me from my primary goal. Suggest moving it to a separate course.
Doug Smith –
Great class and instructors.
Charles K Dzokoto –
I think the Normalization part is the best. I got to understand how tables are actually designed. Trust me, it just opens your mind!
Jan Lechner –
SInce it is just the start of the course I am still very happy
