Build a State of the Art Android App with this new course on Android development and Kotlin.
Most tutorials and how to’s show you the basics of app building, but they don’t show you how to use the latest technologies and libraries.
Most projects and jobs require you to know how to use the latest libraries. This is what this course is all about.
The purpose of this course is to give you a practical example of how to use these technologies, all while building a simple example app.
We will learn about:
MVVM architecture using the Google recommended Android Lifecycle Extensions
Retrofit and JSON for remote server communication
RxJava as a reactive framework
Dagger2 for dependency injection
Jetpack navigation for navigating the user through the app screens
Jetpack Data Binding for building UI screens
Glide for seamless image loading
Jetpack Palette for extracting colors from images
Unit tests to test the application and make it stable and robust
And we will build everything in Kotlin, the shiny new language that Google recommends
If you want to become an expert Android Developer, you need to know how to use these technologies.
If you want to build an app that scales and is robust, these technologies will make your life easy in the long term.

Unit testing final part was not explained thoroughly at all and looked like that part was just added there for a checkmark.

Excellent course! I like that the example app is simple so you can focus on the concepts. Each concept is explained well and demonstrated in a way that allows you to understand how the concept could be used in a more complex application.

The course was good, the instructor was very clear, would’ve given 5 if there was UI tests too.

The course was just what I needed. I now have the basics of dependency injection. I will have to go back and review some sections while I build a test app with this knowledge. I would recommend this course if you have built a few apps already and want to learn about DI and Unit testing.

Took this course as a beginner to get a better understanding of Kotlin and how to develop Android applications. Catalin is a great teacher, he goes from explaining what he will do and why to showing you how to write a clean code. At the end of each lecture, you understand what you wrote and what that code does. I recommend taking this course and others too since Catalin is a great teacher. Trust me, i’ve searched quite a bit for a teacher like him on Android.

Not a relevant course for real life problem . The instructor only explains a basic demo that any one can easily find on google. This is nothing but a deceit. In my opinion he should update this course and make it relevant to real life problems .

This course is great, the pace is fast but understandable. I would recommend to expand a little bit more the testing section. Maybe tet a new functionality to show more testing cases. I learnt a lot in this course. Thanks!

I am a full time Mobile developer. Professionally switched to Flutter about 2 years back but now wanted a quick introduction to current Android architectures and best practices as quite a lot changed after the formal release of Android Jetpack. This course was just what I needed. Thank you!!
