In this class you’re going to learn about the basics of using the command line (terminal).
Although it may seam easy to just stick with using your visual file navigator, like the file explorer (on Windows) on the finder (on Mac), learning to use the terminal can improve your efficiency and make a lot of common programming tasks a lot easier.
The command line can be used often, especially when programming, when you either don’t have a UI component (for example on a remote machine), or also to make your own workflow easier.
In this course you’ll first set up your own virtual machine in the cloud.
Then we’ll go into some basics like how to navigate between the different folders on your machine, how to create new files and folders as well as remove them.
After that we’ll look at how we can copy files from one machine to another, and how we can use the command line to execute python scripts as well as executable programs.
At the end of this course you should feel comfortable using the terminal, and should be able to use it to speed up your workflow, so that you don’t always have to navigate using the finder or file explorer, as well as being able to work on a remote machine.
