Heard about Test Driven Development (TDD) and not sure what it is? We’ll take a real world example of a coding challenge for a job and work through it using TDD. We’ll be building a ‘Game of Life’ simulation with tests first (using Jest), breaking tasks down into small achievable steps and viewing in a browser at the end.

Steve Griffin –
Excellent content and explained very well, with good walk through. Highly recommended.
Julia Robinson –
No broader explanation of why or how he was approaching tasks. No real explanation of TDD. Just watching someone writing code which was hard to understand.
Bob Fornal –
This is a reasonably good course. It seems to be a bit rough without chapter lead in or summaries. The content is good … could be broken out more.
Brant Keener –
Excellent job teaching strong fundamentals of TDD with Jest.
Miguel Aveiro –
I think it could have shown a little bit more of the Jest framework itself. Most of the comparisons are ‘toEqual‘ and the only interesting bit is how to handle ‘setInterval‘. It might be that the chosen example doesn’t allow you to explore more of jest. But it shows the concepts of Test Driven, which is okay.

The instruction was pretty disjointed and very stream of consciousness. This needs to be polished and explained further to give the student an understanding of what the instructor is thinking and why. Otherwise, a pretty decent course as an introduction.
