While going through this course I expected to not give it a great review. I can understand other peoples ‘issues’ with the course. The language issue is only minor, it made me go through at 1.5x instead of 2x, and as an English speaker I had to focus a little more, but it’s not a bad experience. There are quite a few typing errors that happen through the course, some caught, some not. I see that as more of a challenge and a benefit than a problem. Troubleshooting and figuring out problems on your own is a crucial skill. All in all I think this course has some solid information about getting started building custom themes. It is more of an intermediate programming course / beginner WordPress course. You will want to be comfortable as a programmer to web search specific functions and dig through documentation.

So far it’s what I’d expected. The date of the course made me believe the videos would start with WP v5 (Gutenberg). Hoping the later videos deal with Gutenberg / Blocks.

This was a course with the deepest inside into WordPress I have seen so far. The course may have some glitches compared to other courses on Udemy, but what maters for me is the technical skill I got from the course, not a bleeding shining video that covers only the surface of a topic. I would recommend every developer for WordPress this course, but also the other course from the same author for Gutenberg ( I did that course first ).
