USED BY SOFTWARE STUDENTS AT CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY – TOP RATED, WORLD CLASS PYTHON FUNDAMENTALS COURSE – UPDATED CONTENT January 2018
Master practical python concepts and fundamentals
This course on python does exactly what the title describes in a simple, practical and relatable way. I help you to grasp the fundamentals of python with live coding, practical examples, projects and quizzes, moving step by step through beginner and then intermediate concepts – getting you to the point where you are ready to being a career in python – to apply the foundations of python into real life projects, such as games, websites, GUIs, data science or AI.
Why you need this course
Coming to grips with python isn’t always easy. On your own it can be quite confusing, difficult and frustrating. I’ve been through the process myself, and with the help of my peers and mentors I’ve quickly become a proficient python developer. I want to share all I’ve learned with my fellow python beginners, developers, AI aspirers. My inspiration comes from believing that, if taught effectively in a carefully planned and considered way, the vast majority of people will be able to master python. That’s why I’ve created this course.
What you will get out of this course
I will give you straightforward examples, instructions, advice, insights and resources for you to take simple steps to start coding your own programs, solving problems that inspire you and instilling the ‘developer’s mindset’ of problem solving.

This is by far the clearest, most user friendly Python course I’ve done. Well taught. Highly recommend!

Great Python course, especially for someone who is a genuine beginner or coming to Python with only patchy experience. The delivery has a friendly ‘workshop’ feel and John genuinely cares that you learn the material and that you become productive with the techniques shown. Some seasoned advice on study techniques is given along with plenty of detailed explanations of the Python language. If you need Python skils, then by the end of this course you’ll have them. I appreciated the references to Machine Learning, as it’s definitely something I’ll want to be learning more about.

very basic, not so deep, cannot say it’s an ultimate masterclass

A great place for me to start learning python. What I really like is that after learning the fundamentals the instructor takes me through loads of ways of applying python…like creating GUIs which is just…amazing!
Rebecca Mendivil –
Clear and easy to understand. Gives opportunities to practice.
Si Rawlin –
Great course so far. I knew the basics before but now feeling much more confident and capable.
Michael Caoile –
Instructor is great and easy to listen to but for me the course needs more in depth explanation on the functions, syntax of writing those functions because even though John encourages us to explore and research more, it seems I would be better off getting my python info elsewhere with a more comprehensive explanation and more examples. The course offered here just touches on each subject without really providing more explanation therefore, each lesson is hard to retain. The course needs more explanations as to what the functions do and why.

Very comprehensible introduction course to Python programming. Good examples. You are encouraged to extend the code or try different things, which you can communicate about it on the forum. Marc

well explained for a beginner. I am a beginner and so far I understand update 15th sept 19 I am flying through the course now gathering pace with every lecture. At the end of each section there is a quiz to test knowledge gained from lectures in that section. this helps to solidify concepts and techniques. the subject matter is broken down into key portins which facilitates quick know ledge assimilation which I am happy about. Further review upon completion of the course to follow
