This step–by–step course will teach you how to create your own plugin for WordPress using methods that are being used for WordPress pluging Development by industry experts. When you are finished with the course you will know how to create a fully functional Plugin that is created with PHP, HTML, CSS and AJAX and uses data we get from the New York Times using an API!
Over 2 hours of video in which you will learn everything you need to know to get you started with creating plugins. I will tot only teach how to create a plugin but also what to do and what not to do. But there is more. We are working with an Application Programming Interface (API). With that API we fetch real time data from the New York Times and show that on our website. With the techniques you learn, you can build your own plugin, with an admin page, front–end widget or shortcodes. You can even get data from other API’s out there, like Twitter or Facebook. I know the whole idea of creating a plugin can be overwhelming, do do not hesitate to contact me, i will make sure I guide you and help you. If you are not pleased with the content, you can ask for a 100% refund, no questions asked.

Matt Brutsch –
Really clear, great balance of walking through and coding in person. Very useful and I’ve been able to write my own plugin along the way watching the demo plugin be written.

I’m halfway through the course and the reason I chose it is because it specifically works with a third party API, which is right up my alley of what I need to learn. I’m finding the course easy to understand and to follow, the instructor is clear and is not in a rush. He explains what the code means and sticks to naming conventions while also practicing good security, which was a concern I had until a particular lesson talked about how we would avoid potential hackers. I am not following along using the NYT API, I’m using the API of the site I’ll be using. There are minor differences in how I have to tackle the code but anyone with common sense and a good eye will be able to easily adjust the course to their needs. I’m hoping this course will fulfill everything I’m looking for.

Awesome. It’s making lots of sense so far.
Ioannis Giftakis –
Very easy to follow and explanations so far are great.
Srinath –
The Instructor was very experienced and keen about the subject, explained everything in detailed and made the sessions short and good which keeps motivating to learn more and more.
Niels Lund –
The source code example is not working. I would prefer a more basic example of creating a plugin.
Youriy Kaplan –
Great course! Straight to the point, good explanations, and covers everything you need to build plugin from scratch. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn how to develop WordPress plugins. That said… this is not a beginner level course… you should really be familiar with WordPress or at the very least php in order to really understand what is going on.
Richard Stovall –
A great introduction to WP Plugin development. Simple and concise.
Gwenael Talhouet –
The tutorials are efficient to teach what is needed. But the lack of proper subtitles (which makes it hard to understand some parts) prevents me from putting 5 stars.
Ahmed Dawood –
simple and easy to follow
James McKee –
Very, very helpful.
Kristian Fr lund J rgensen –
I’m getting a little annoyed by the mistakes. Instead of editing the video, I would appreciate if you did a re take.
Sherif Butt –
very practical easy to learn and to the point
Jon Legree –
The content is good, but there is such a delay between what he is saying, and what you see on the screen, it’s almost impossible to follow what’s going on. I took this course specifically to learn about working with external APIs, but it’s really hard to learn anything when you can’t see what’s going on.

Short and concise tutorial which helps me to understand the concept and procedures of creating a WordPress plugin. Great help for me, Thanks a lot! Positive: + Quick start and overview to WP plugin creation + Covers major subjects on a real world example + Shows shortcode creation, widget creation + Show admin page creation, content page creation + Shows how to consume a REST API Negative: Once in a while mistakes occur, confusing to the new comer Recommendation to participants: Load the completed source code and follow the explanations, instead of trying to rebuild the code yourself, while watching the videos.

Great tutorial, learned a lot and will apply it to my project. The only thing that needs updating is the New York Times API interface has changed since recording but you can figure this out by clicking around a bit. Much appreciated, bargain. Thank you.
