Hi! Welcome to React Native – First Steps course. This course would introduce you smoothly to React Native and you would be creating your first react native application in no time! Take this course if:

You want to learn React Native but have rarely worked with it

You want to create mobile applications that work on Android, iOS, Windows, etc. using a shared codebase.

You like working with JavaScript

Some more points about this course:

This course is beginner focused, so please do not expect advanced stuff like creating custom native modules or exploring React Native bridge, stuff like that.

The course is guaranteed to cover at least 2 patch cycles of RN releases. Currently: v0.58.0 [ January 2019 Release ]

The course is constantly updated with new content, project, modules, etc. So that’s a very large supply of updated material/content/projects for one time subscription!

Instructor Details

I've been working with web development technologies from age 12, started working with simple HTML templates, explored CSS, got to know about JavaScript, and since then, there was no turning back. I chose JavaScript as my favourite language and soon JS blew up completely as better and better standards of JavaScript were released adding more functionality, making JavaScript more accessible to other runtimes and faster execution. YouTube and Udemy I've primarily been a young YouTuber sharing my tech knowledge through my YouTube channel called codedamn (link below), but I finally thought that expanding to more platforms would eventually help me to reach out to more people and deliver more value. Feel free to catch me up on YouTube for occasional discounts and regular videos.

Overall the course is good for absolute beginner but I think you can enhance this course and make it little more exciting by adding extra things like React navigation, 3rd party UI library or Firebase integration.

Very good overview of how to create a React Native application. Mehul explains things in a very clear manner and breaks things down to easy understand segments.

Thanks Mehul for the wonderful tutorial . I’m new to React Native but has experience in React and I learned lot from this course. React Native is getting updated so fast so hope you update this course when new contents are introduced in React native world. Thanks a lot.

I’m only up to the getting started part. It’s going okay so far. I managed to set up my React Native application on my Android device and even learned how to set up my RN app on an iOS emulator. The instructor is very engaging and easy to follow. A few improvements could be made. First, I wish every course starts with a course overview (i.e. a short video of what we will be learning for that section) and then go into the topic. It would feel a little bit more organised that way. Second, I feel that pre requisite installations (IDE of choice, Node, NPM) could be done in a single short video or not at all. I do not know about anyone else but I always thought that people who heard about React Native may have those stuff installed already. Third, I was expecting to learn how a React Native project is set up (i.e. how to set up the folders in a way that is reusable and organised). Haven’t learnt it yet this far in the course but once I finish it, I’ll update this if it is covered in Section 4. Also, I looked ahead. I was expecting a Redux introduction. I heard that Redux is important for state management in React Native. Can’t see a video heading that has Redux written on it. Maybe additional content would be nice to have? Anyway, besides that, I really appreciate this course. Keep up the great work. I am also subscribed to you on Youtube. Your tutorials helped me throughout my university years. Thank you.

Amazing course. Mehul is an excellent tutor. I had watched his youtube videos, which I liked and hence took this course. He explains well. If you are in doubt whether to take this course, just visit his youtube channel codedamn, check out his videos especially his new JavaScript series and be the judge whether you should take this course. You most definitely will want to take this course. This course covers the basic of React Native.

The course is good and it’s up to date by March 2019, but it lacks content would be nice to add a few more things in it.

First of all, I was developing on Windows and this course is entirely on Mac. The instructor also uses not a emulator of Android, but a real Android device to run the application. I don’t have Android phone so I had to manage how to run the emulator by myself. Also instructor did not even show how EXPO method works and what limitation it has. When programming Settings part there were no loops used, the Settings were hard coded. The linking to documentation is very poor each time you have to google to find the displayed page by yourself. And when building an app for Android, it gets really messy because instructor makes some mistakes like copying certificate file to wrong directory then goes back and fix it, etc. He should re film that episode for sure.

Conocer acerca de los componentes que interfieren en un proyecto con React Native, es super interesante. Ampliar los conocimientos en base a elementos y vistas, compartidos en distintos dispositivos.

Your explanation is good to understand for the beginners. But the parts that you are skipping makes any user worry. Especially you were using plugin to auto suggest method and syntax, which you haven’t mention in the sessions.
