A Comprehensive and Brand New Course for Learning Apache Kafka Connect Framework with Hands–on Training (Launched in April 2017)

Kafka Connect is a tool for scalable and reliable streaming data between Apache Kafka and other data systems. Apache Kafka Connect is a common framework for Apache Kafka producers and consumers.

Apache Kafka Connect offers an API, Runtime, and REST Service to enable developers to define connectors that move large data sets into and out of Apache Kafka in real time. It inherits strong concepts such as fault–tolerance and elasticity thanks to being an extension of Apache Kafka. Kafka Connect can ingest entire databases, collect metrics, gather logs from all your application servers into Apache Kafka topics, making the data available for stream processing with low latency.

Kafka Connect standardises integration of other data systems with Apache Kafka, simplifying connector development, deployment, and management.

In this course, we are going to learn the Kafka Connector deployment, configuration and management with hands–on exercises. We are also going to see the distributed and standalone modes to scale up to a large, centrally managed service supporting an entire organisation or scale down to development, testing, and small production deployments. The REST interface to submit and manage connectors to your Kafka Connect cluster via an easy to use REST API s.

High quality course with a lot of hands on examples wich really helps on illustrating how to use kafka connect api. Overall this are the points I’ve loved the most: docker compose environment: It’s really easy to run the environment with just a compose up command Examples: Every example really help you out to understand each topic.

It would be great to add a section on how distributed mode of connectors work in details. Until now, I am still confused of how multi workers in executing tasks of a connector deal with the synchronization issue how to extract records from a single source in parallel and with no conflict?

The course covered very fine details of the Kafka Connect. Stephane explains the concepts quite clearly and interestingly, and the hands on was very effective. Although I agree that the landoop Kafka image was quite simple to use, I would suggest using the basic Apache Kafka for demonstration and development which most of the developers will be using in their projects.

One of the poorer efforts from Stephane Marek who is usually excellent with Kafka content. You will learn more about Docker and Lense.io then Kafka Connect. Would recommend using Confluents distribution as a baseline as this is what all Enterprises use in the real world.

It will be better if you install kafka using the binaries and later explain kafka connect, because in production will not use that image

A very nice course with hands on how to use existing source and sink connectors as well as how to write your own end to end source connectors. It covers also the most important part which is how to setup a kafka connect cluster in production. A really good work!! Thanks again Stephane!

In about 4 hours video course, Stephane succeeds in giving Kafka Connect basics but also the keys to go beyond, including understanding of the development and internals of Kafka Connectors.
