Instructor Details

I absolutely love this course. This is such a comprehensive course that was well worth the money I spent and a lot more. Will definitely be looking at more Mammoth Interactive courses when I finish this. Student Matt W. Very good at explaining the basics then building to more complex features. Student Kevin L. Mammoth Interactive has been contracted to produce epic soundtracks, addicting levels, rock solid programming and business development.

The instructor tells us why we do things and breaks down everything so you will understand better.

I enjoyed this course. I like the courses from Mammoth because you go through the prototyping, then build the art from scratch, and then pull the art into the game (instead of just having pre made assets to include). Instructors are quite knowledgeable on the subject matter, and don’t usually move too quickly when explaining things. My minor complaints would be: there seems to be a missing lecture after 127. We go from the prototype floor to the voxel floors we built earlier. Would be nice to have a lesson in there on putting the textures on, sizing it, and placing the floor pieces, since you’ll have to use more than one for the walkways. Also, would be nice to use a open source program (like Gimp) for the 2 D work. All the other tools don’t have costs associated with it, so having a free 2 D tool to work with would make things a bit easier, instead of having to rent Photoshop or look up how to do things in another program. Finally, would be nice to have a wrap up lecture after the sound lecture maybe with a hint on how to go about making multiple levels, end game and such. This is a great training course to get you started, but doesn’t have everything to make it complete yet (like levels, handling player deaths either from loss of health or falling over edge). Still, if you do have some knowledge already and have made a mobile game before, you should be able to figure it out.
