very good so far. He’s fast but if you’ve already got a wee bit of experience with Construct then it’s ok. Newbies might be doing a fair amount of pausing and going back over sections

This is a good course with a lot of contents but project/source files are not provided. I would have given 5 out of 5 if the source files were provided.

First of all, I have to point out that I was/more or so still am, a total beginner on Construct 2, I literally started with this course, and had very, very little knowledge about the program. I spent 21 hours watching this. It’s a long course, and I’m pretty sure the creator of this course spend even way more hours preparing this so I hope this feedbacks are worth it. Let’s start with the most mentioned thing in the comments. These are not really 60 different games. It just same 10 12 games, with some mechanics tweaked a bit, but totally built in the same way. Kinda like 999+ in one Atari games. The introduction part, where he shows the game we’re gonna be doing next, is missing after 20th game. From there on, the first lesson of every part starts directly in Construct 2. Now the thing is, after the first couple courses, I got the basics of the program. So after that, I started to just watch the introduction part first, and went into C2 and tried to reverse engineer and make the game by myself. Then I came baco to watch the rest of the tutorial so I can see where he had put it with different logic, or how to get pass the parts where I got stuck. So yeah, introduction part missing was kinda dissapointing for me. Also Challanges and homework parts are missing after some point in the course as well. There are problems with the pacing. Sometimes he goes too fast, doesn’t explain a very crucial thing and you have to rewing and watch it in slow mo to see what the hell just happened. And sometimes he goes too slow. Some small and basic stuff that we already covered are still being talked on way, way too much. We’re making games for mobile devices, but the basic control mechanic he uses (player > Set x to Touch.X) doesn’t work properly on mobile. It actually doesn’t even work properly on PC as well, you can see he’s dragging the mouse around the screen but the moment when you click on anywhere on the screen, you’ll see that player will set that X directly, like teleport. He never mentions this issue, although it literally is the biggest bug that interferes with the gameplay. It’s almost the same in every game he makes (since there are not 60, but actually 10 15 games). He talks about games should stand time etc, but nobody will be able to enjoy playing the game you made in mobile, after they spend just 30 seconds to realize the bug. (Believe me I tried) There’s no info on how to export it. Yes, this is a Construct 2 course, but you can come across bugs like the one I mentioned above easily if you don’t export and test it properly. Also if you use the touch mechanics and make your player that small, it’s often that you’ll not be able to see what’s on your screen on your mobile when you try to use contols. Couple times he mentions I can make a whole course on Debugging screen. I wish he had done that. It’s important part of game making, and this course aims to teach people how to make games, and after you start to add more objects and different mechanics to your game to improve, you’re going to start spending time in that debugging screen. Would be much useful to have a class about this rather than to spend 20% of every class in Photoshop. It’s totally unnecessary, mechanics won’t even work properly and we’re spending 10 minues of every class making the design part. Most of the time he says it does work quite well, it actually doesn’t. Lol. All the games I’ve seen have one screen, it doesn’t get more challenging or deeper as the course progresses. (maybe it does, but again, it stopped being challenging that I had to go and look for other tutorials instead of finishing this one) The instructor so far spends a lot of time in photoshop creating images and talking about colors, but literally uses like 5 colors at tops and create really basic and (this part is totally subjective) ugly designs. No answers on Q&A part of the course in last 2 months. So overall, I think I don’t think it’s a bad course. Although I have a lot of negative comments/feedbacks, I’ve learned good stuff. I can find my way in Construct 2 easily, I made useful habits like using global variables, naming everything in the right way etc. pretty early on. I don’t think taking this course was a bad decision, I’ve learned pretty well but I don’t think I will finish the rest of it and it’s not that epic.
