Real Student Reviews:

Fantastic course, it covers all you need to know about moving web–sites both ways; and backing up a complete copy of the existing site. Very handy it things go pear shaped. I have my first web–site to up–grade and make responsive. My client want’s to leave his old web–site up until the new one is ready. This means copying the site to my laptop (local–host), modifying it, testing it then uploading it. Anytime i’ve being stuck! Support from Andy and the other students has always solved any problems i’ve had. Would highly recommend all his courses they are straight to the point no waffle.

This class is extremely easy to follow. Andy’s instructional pace was easy to follow. Wasn’t as tough as I thought it might be based on my lack of experience. Success with the class motivates me to continue working on educating myself on web page design. Thanks!

My firsdt Udemy Course and my first WordPress tutorial. It gave me a wonderful start. I did my first install of wordpress locally without any issues following this tutorial step by step. I can now do everything on wordpress without worrying about any monthly charges. Thanks Andy.

Instructor Details

I have written and published a number of books that are available on Amazon, including best selling books on Wordpress ( Wordpress for Beginners 2019 ) and search engine optimization ( SEO 2019 ). I also run a website called ezSEONews, where I teach my visitors and newsletter subscribers a number of skills required for running a successful website. As an ex-schoolteacher, I hope I can make complicated topics simple to understand. I certainly enjoy trying!

Explained well with good graphic following. However it is assumed the user is PC literate. A new PC user may find watching you scrolling confusing. Also your volume bar is located in the same place as most windows users PC volume bar so it is not obvious which volume you are turning up, again this really relates to those users who are maybe not PC literate.

At one point I thought this was not going to work as it looked like quite a complicated procedure but hey presto it did and I now have WordPress on my laptop great explanation!

From not knowing much about WordPress I have been able to set up my own site locally following the instructions given in this course. Andrew is very clear and goes at a good place, I did go back over different lessons as I was setting up my own files so I had better understanding. while there was a couple of issues I experienced 1) with site certificates (totally my computer) and 2) naming of files eg php(.ini cant always see the .ini so your looking for the php file) I was able to solve this asking my questions on google. I am very happy overall with this course and have enrolled in others, I look forward to continue learning under same Tudor

I would not consider myself tech savvy, but tech doesn’t scare me and I am a great step by step direction follower. I was able to create a website offline, migrate it to online and then back again. I had to stop, start, pause, back up, re watch and start again. It probably took me 4 times as long as the videos if you ran them straight through, but WOW I am so pleased I did it. One thing that I noticed is sometimes he would say click on…. and he’d do it so fast and the screen would change, I’d have to rewind several times to make sure I was clicking the right thing. Being a beginner I had to take alot of breaks because I would get overwhelmed, but then I’d get back at it. Having two or more separate screens to view while working was very helpful for me. Overall, this course gave me the info I needed to get the job done. Would recommend to anyone with patience and determination to work through the learning curve.

Dr. Andy has created a complete step by step guide that covers all the uses of a local installation of WordPress including transferring to/from an online copy of WordPress. Possible difficulties are addressed, as required. Some of the steps can be quite technical and daunting, but Dr. Andy has taken the time to reassure the student that patient following of the guide will yield the correct results. Dr. Andy is responsive in the Q & A area to all student queries and updates the course if that is necessary. Detailed screen shots are given throughout the course. An area for possible improvement is for the author to zoom in further for some of the smaller shots. The course is thorough and well presented and is suitable for all students who want to experiment with a local rather than hosted installation of WordPress.

This is an excellent course indeed! The presentation is very logical and the audio quality is very good. Andy speaks very clearly and fairly slowly making it easy to follow (there are many machine gun talkers at Udemy making it difficult). The installation of XAMPP worked flawlessly for me. I was also pleased to learn that XAMPP is available for Linux as I am a fan of Linux. I would have enjoyed a discussion of WP multisite as I am going to create many websites. I am wondering how to do if you want to transfer just one of them to a real hosting. I highly recommend this course to anyone e g when learning WP.

This course was great! It was exactly what I was looking for. I plan on building around 50 ish different niche sites that all fall under the umbrella of the main site with the niche sites on subdomains. Different content on each. but the branding is the same on all. Doing this locally allows me to get each site set up the way I like before going live. Thanks much, Andrew.

Enjoyed taking this course. Covered all the subject well and now I have a local server and WP installation on my Apple Mac. Will save me the cost of Hosting whilst learning the ins and outs of WordPress. So does what it says on the tin ! Many thanks Andy for producing this course. I couldn’t find the likes of anywhere else.

I’ve been trying to figure out this stuff for a long time and Andy connects the dots nicely. However, he’s painfully slow at times (he needs a good editor a good editor and he would be brilliant) but that still doesn’t stop me from giving him five stars for his level of competence with the subject matter.

The instructor is very easy to listen to and to follow his directions even when it seemed complex to a novice. And, the end result is that I was successful in loading XAMPP, Apache & MySQL.

Great class to learn how to get WordPress running on your local computer. The last section discusses uploading the local WordPress database to a website. The explanations were not as clear in this section as the others. It felt rushed, and was at times difficult to follow.
