Excellent Course. I was looking for a simple Node.js/MySQL course that didn’t bury MySQL in a large project. Meaning; I just wanted to get to the main topic. This course helped me get an (introductory) foothold.

Having an understanding of vanilla JS and never being able to figure out how to connect to a database has been extremely frustrating. I have purchased several courses, and to date… THIS IS THE EASIEST EXPLANATION I HAVE EVER HEARD! Aside from that… most node courses insist on using Mongo or Cassandra… well, I don’t have time to scale up… He shows you how to use node and mySQL which will save me SO MUCH TIME!

It’s my opinion that this course doesn’t have enough content to warrant the same price range as much more robust courses on the site.

Look no further than lesson #7 where he gets an error message about the json file while installing the mysql module and has no idea why. A good instructor would have known what it meant right away, an average instructor would have stopped the video right there and figure it out instead of adding it to the lessons. Any time someone is going to follow along with a lesson, there are going to be slight differences. For instance, I already had a local database so I had to create a username and password instead of using the default database settings like in the lesson. Because of that, when I had a question, the answer was start over. Really? A good instructor would be able to look at the error message that I provided and give me a better advice than just start over.
