Ruby on Rails is one of the most popular web frameworks in the world, but you don’t need to learn the Ruby programming language to use Rails …so most people don’t!

That’s a shame because Ruby is one of the most fun and easy to use programming languages to learn. In this course I’ll teach you the Ruby programming language from the ground up.

This is not a course on Rails, we’ll focus only on Ruby here. You’ll quickly see just how fast and easy it is to code Ruby like a pro.

Aimed at the absolute beginner, we’ll start with basic programming concepts and move on from there.

This course contains 27 videos and is just under 3 hours long. Watch the videos at your own pace, and post questions along the way if you get stuck. You don t need any special knowledge or tools to take this course, I’ll show you everything you need to know.

Let’s learn some Ruby!

I love this course so far. He really breaks down all of the basics and allows you to understand what is going on. The only suggestion I would make is to slow his instruction down by just a hair to the user has time to understand what’s going on.

This course made me realize how much beginner Ruby I did not know or did not understand well. Nothing was over my head, but I learned a lot of new information! I’ve done a couple Ruby programming projects that I struggled to complete. Even after completion, I didn’t understand the mechanics of the all the functions I was using and I didn’t grasp the meaning of the syntax. I found a lot of different ways to do things, but didn’t understand which was was best. This course cleared up ALL of those questions. The instructor teaches different ways to do things, but goes over the pros and cons of each while suggesting one that is a safe bet for most programming. As a beginner, this knowledge is valuable!

This course was upbeat and fun to do. I learned alot and was able to build a fun little text game of my own with just the skills i learned from this course. I like this instructor he moves quickly but is thorough and has a good energy. He even contacted me personally when i started the course to make sure i got set up with all of the external services you need.

This is advertised as a complete beginner program. Then, after the video on installing Ruby and Sublime, we’re told they are not necessary. We just need to set up a VM in the cloud. Then, the instructor breezes through 3 Linux commands in the shell with a directive to go do some research on Linux. Not for someone with no coding experience.

OK for what it is called Intro To Ruby Programming. What I wanted was instruction that permitted me to install and use Ruby programs within web pages: where would they be installed?, how would they be accessed?, what are their capabilities?, how can data be fetched and used?, what are their common uses? This course just showed me the nuts and bolts of yet another computer language, which is nothing new to me.

Senior QA working in Telecommuncations on backend APIs. Using Ruby to test REST APIs. Been using it for about 5 months now but thought it would be nice to do an actual course. This course has been done by several members of my team in Ireland & India and come highly recommended.
