Yet another course about Java syntax and object–oriented programming? NOT EVEN A BIT! I assume you already know Java syntax, therefore I start with the most important tools for building real Java applications. Not Swing or an another unneeded thing.
I teach what I missed at the beginning of my professional career – how to configure the app, how to plug external libraries, how to run everything. I show Maven with Maven Central Repository, Jetty, HttpServlet, Spring and Hibernate.
I remember hard times figuring out what and where is hidden in the big codebase. I didn’t understand multitier architecture back then. I focus on it here as well as on REST and CRUD operations. I follow best practices and point out things from the software craftmanship, like SOLID.
I also know that Java is not always the case. That’s why I show more, like some pieces of SQL and front–end worlds.

Great course, this is what was missing on the market! I’m experienced with Java but still this was eye opening. The instructor focuses on matters that are crucial in real world (you got all the meat, 100% hands on). What could be improved is the part with Windows set up I believe this might be confusing for some people as it’s not shown on Windows. I know buying Windows license just to show the set up does not sound good 😀 (how not to love M$ :P)b ut maybe the easiest way would be to use AWS Workspace or sth similar.

Update: At first I struggled a bit because of some confusions with the project setup. But after the first section and an exercise I can say that the course is much better and the instruct knows the topics very well and how teach them. Now it is fun to follow and code along.

Exactly what i’ve been looking for as a junior developer working on enterprise apps! I consider myself a strong core java developer, but as for all the tools required for enterprise app development, I was lost. The explanations and walk throughs in this course has been incredible. Things I’ve been confused about, or have just mulled over, are things that Mateusz have touched on from the beginning, and has given a proper explanation.

50% through, have helped me gained better understanding on the multilayer structure and setting up maven. Was easy to follow and suitable for people with some code experience. Not hard to follow and informative.

Course is good for intermediate java programmers. Instructor is knowledgeable about the subject, very helpful and quick to respond to queries. it would have been nice to have a more complex setup in database and therefore more realistic hibernate section. However, that is a minor point and I would definitely recommend the course.

too much time spent rambling not enough real work
