WordPress is one of the revolutionary products from the first wave of internet which is still relevant and going strong. Originally created as a means of enhancing the typography of everyday writing, WordPress is currently the most used self–hosted blogging tool in the world. WordPress gives users the power to create a fully interactive website without having to focus too much on coding. It gives them the option of selecting themes, color schemes, images and even incorporate different social media aspects to their website.

The most interesting aspect of WordPress, making it one of the most popular platforms to use, is the WordPress Plugins. The Plugins are basically extensions that can be added to the blog or website to make it more interactive and responsive. These could be widgets that allow Facebook integration or a built in photo gallery, etc.

Even though WordPress comes with a wide range of already built in plugins, there are many different innovative plugins that are still required to make the website better and easier for the users. If you ve got any new ideas for plugins, then we ve got the knowledge you need to bring them to life.

Our course has been designed to give you the basic knowledge you need to start creating your very own plugins. The course has been structured around basic languages like PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JQuery to start making the plugins and will also break down concepts such as WordPress CMS (Blog System), PHP, OOP/Classes, JSON APIs (Fetch data from different APIs), Project Structuring (how to set up our files and structure them), Taxonomy, Widgets, Custom Post Types, SQL Query and XAMPP/Apache.

This course contain a wealth of material to learn concerning building basic to intermediate level WordPress plugins. I like Brad’s style of teaching and I have took many courses taught by him. The only thing that really bothered me is the lack of explanation in many instances of the code he is using. You feel in many instances he is writing the code without explanation and you have to go and search the WordPress codex in order to learn what the functions actually do. Another thing is that in some lectures the audio maximum volume is low and viewing the course on mobile devices is a quite frustrating. The whole philosophy of platforms such as Udemy is that you should be able to learn on the go so all the courses should be tailored to mobiles devices (i.e. larger font or zoomed in/out code and lighter background)

A lot of old descriptions and code! Social media (Facebook and Instagram) no longer work! Most of the lectures are cut and paste with very little learning potential. The course not worth the full price unless it’s the special pricing in which case you might glean a little plugin development techniques if you buy it (like I did)
