This course was designed to help you get started with API Test Automation in a simple and effective way. In this course, you will learn how to build simple APIs using Node.js and Express. You will learn how to test those APIs with Postman manually. You will then learn how to create your test project and write and run automated API tests that will help you verify the correct behavior of your API and help you catch bugs and defects as you are making changes to the code later on in the future.

If you are not familiar with express apis and you are not familiar with automated testing tools, this is a good place to start. It is a very basic course that will give you fundamentals, If, however, you’ve been writing API code for a while and have used other testing frameworks there is not much to get from watching the course that you can’t easily glean from the supertest documentation. I would love to see a course that dives more deeply into more complex configuration issues such as how to run tests in a local ssl environment that will also run in a Travis CI environment, for example. The instructor did a great job with his material but was a bit slow; I found that speeding the course up at least to 1.25x was a better experience. Finally, I found the video to be blurry much of the time and it was hard to read the code. I have very high resolution monitors and normally don’t have any issues with udemy course videos, so this was surprising.

The first half was set up of API endpoints; remaining was mostly testing each endpoint with Jest and only superficial use of SuperTest. Should focus on real time issues such as handling data dynamically. Expect some exception handling in this course. Its average, could be better. All the best!

Sorry, but I have to note. If you have at least a little experience in test automation, you will just waste money and time purchasing this course. Only hard coding and missed a lot of useful knowleges like db connection, models and working with dynamic data.

It is really amazing course with bestest tools for API Automation. And very helpgul for beginners which do not know anything about API and need to get knowledge and use right away. Teaches is very quick responsive and helpful even if you ask a question that is out of scope for this course.
