Hey gang, and welcome to your first step on the path to becoming a JavaScript ninja! In this course I’ll be teaching you my absolute favourite language (JavaScript!) from the very beginning, right through to creating fully–fledged, dynamic & interactive web experiences.

We’ll cover all the basics to get you up–and–running quickly, before diving in to some of the really fun stuff like web–page manipulation, creating interactive forms, popups & other cool effects. Along the way we’ll be using the latest additions to the JavaScript specification (ES6, 7 & beyond) and maintaining good coding standards to keep our code clean and effective!

Once we master the basics, we’ll dive into several real–life JavaScript projects, including an interactive quiz, a weather app, a real–time chat application and a small UI library you can use in all your future projects!

We’ll also take a look at some more advanced topics – object oriented programming, asynchronous code, real–time databases using Firebase (including a new chapter about Firebase 9) and much more. Finally, we’ll be setting up a modern work–flow using Webpack & Babel, so that by the end of this course you’ll be no less than a black–belt JavaScript developer with a lot of coding techniques in your tool–belt.

Instructor Details

A Little About Me... Hey gang, my name's Shaun and since a young age I've had an obsession for nearly anything tech-related. I've been coding since about the age of 15 (half of my life, now...phew!) and work as a full-stack web developer and online instructor. I also run a well-known development tutorial YouTube channel called The Net Ninja with nearly 400,000 subscribers. So feel free to browse some of my latest free tutorials on there if you want to check out my teaching style :). My specialities mainly gravitate around one central language (and my first love) - JavaScript. I've been programming with it for around 12 years and - as with any long-term relationship - have had the pleasure of seeing it's ugly side as well as it's beautiful side. So I know the pitfalls to avoid when using it, and pass these on when appropriate in my tutorials. As well as teaching, I've also helped to create many very popular, UK-based eCommerce websites, as well as a large amount of smaller, independent websites as well. Other languages & technologies I use and teach are - Node.js, Vue, React, Python, Ruby, PHP, HTML & CSS.

I have taken a dozen JS courses and this is by far the best of them all. Clear, concise, fun examples and I really like the course structure! The addition of Firebase and UI library made me bought this course. Awesome work from The Net Ninja!

Great that you touched on Firebase also. Would have given five stars if you included deploying some of the things we build. I hope you include it in the next update 🙂

LOVE NinjaMan! Been using his YouTube tutes, and love them so much, bought the Udemy course. Money well spent (and this comes from someone who never pays for this type of thing). Got my whole class to use his course instead of our prof! Go Ninja! Waaaha!

A little bit of a disapointment with this course. Learning javascript should develope from beginner to more advanced sections in steps. The beginning will not cover enough area for the beginner to be confident in moving on to the next sections. I could not recommend this course for a beginner, and I’m not sure what becoming a ninja really means.

The course was very helpful as new concepts were taught from the scratch in a very easy and simple way. Every little detail was explained thoroughly by the Instructor. Also, the projects helped to practically implement the concepts that were taught and it gave a more clear idea about the topics. Thank you for designing and conducting such an amazing course!

The course never explained how to create a folder that he had already made where he created the file in for the class. The visual studio code would not allow creating a folder. Had to manually create the folder from windows explorer and select the folder from the window that opened up.

You’re a legend, thank you for everything you have done, in the 23 years I have been alive I have never had a tutor walk me through something so daunting, and teach me it so well that I become genuinely confident in it in the end. I appreciate you Shaun #ForeverNinjaGang

Incredible value for money. If you are browsing for a full JS course, let me save you a job, just get this one. This was my life for the whole of lockdown! The best beginner vanilla Javascript course you will find out there (I tried another on Udemy). It will give you a good grasp of the language learning allmodern features. Clearly explained, concise and constant repetition of ideas. I’m sure I’ll keep coming back to it. Thanks Shawn and Prateek. Whenever I now write ‘query selector’, I will hear ‘query selectooooooor’ in my head. Cheers Shawn, from a fellow Manc 🙂

After trying a bunch of youtube vids and not getting the big picture I forked up the cash for this and BOY WAS I IMPRESSED!!! People should honestly buy this course just to see how a proper course should be taught. I am a comp sci guy and for some reason JS still confused me. This was my last go and it’s like m eyes opened for the first time. It actually makes sense. This is a keeper. ( I know its a bit much but i’m quite happy with this course).

Shaun youre a great instructor. I’ve enjoyed and learned everything. Everything actually seemed more clear when we did the chatroom project, all lessons from before, it was wrapped up in the chatroom project. Thankyou so much. I wish we get an update or a one project here that uses firebase and babel, webpack in the future… Great course!
