What happens when a rabbit races a turtle?
You know this story right?
The rabbit sprints, leaving the turtle in the dust. Right off the bat, it’s as if the rabbit will win.
But the rabbit gets caught up, spins its wheels and veers off course.
The turtle moves forward, nice and steady, consistently towards the finish line.
We all know that the turtle wins. The rabbit was way too confident and didn’t pay attention to the race, thinking there was plenty of time to win.
The moral of the story?
Don’t be like the rabbit.
SEO is hard enough as it is when you try to learn it on your own. But don’t try to blaze through material that you find anywhere on the web.
Why?
If you end up doing the wrong things, you could suffer the wrath of Google. And those penalties are hard to recover from.
If you’re frustrated and feeling like the rabbit, that’s okay.

In parts where I need more details, there aren’t any so, I find myself constantly pausing and googling things so I can understand what he’s talking about. Although the teacher obviously has a vast understanding, I am a COMPLETE beginner. Every single thing I hear is brand new to me. My bachelor’s degree is in Sign Language Interpreting and I’m transitioning into a writing career and many jobs want me to be proficient in SEO Optimization. I am learning a lot but this course seems like it’d be better for someone who already has a slight clue about what this might be. Additionally, the information is from 2015 and we are approaching 2020. I would still be willing to try other courses but as for this course, I am spending just as much time researching and learning for myself outside of the course as I am spending in the course and he is so incredibly repetitive you could almost turn this into a drinking game of how many times he repeats something he already said. Lastly, at the end of the course he stops reviewing these 200+ google ranking factors around the 150’s and that also seems like a laziness indicator. He says, read the rest in the pdf when all 202 are already in a pdf. This is not a course I would recommend unless you have previous knowledge. He obviously knows what he is talking about but that does not make for an excellent teacher.

The announcer frequently sounded like he was out of breath or like he was tired. That, or he scrapped together all of the content with no time to practice reading it out loud. The information was valuable but a lot of it was repeated and organized incorrectly. The teacher produces a lot of umm’s and uhhh’s, reinforcing again that they may not have been adequately prepared to teach the course with the materials they had. Many of the documents used in the videos contained blatant spelling and grammatical errors. The presenter needs to be a little bit more liberal with what gets cut and what stays in the course content, as a lot of it was repeated.
